highonpaint
Hey guys highonpaint here, I see allot of engines made from E.O or E.N and I like them alot I do but I have decided to make a completly new engine from scratch using visual Basics 2010\. I may not be the best programmer in the world and I am not trying to say I am, but I am going to try and get this engine released anyway. The engine will run DirectX 8 and I plan to have the following features involved:* Custom setting system to allow the player to choose there own settings like: Screen resolution, Key input, Graphical detail, Sound levels.* Quest system with Quest log and log tracking.* Class advancement* Spell advancement* NPC Vs NPC battle* Guild system with guild levels and Guild house* Events placed by server (2x exp, pvp arena timed battle's)* npc shops and option for players to own shops (possibly a auction system)* Player houses* movie support for cutscenes (more detail closer to time)* Night and day system* and some others that would be reccomended by the publicThis system will take a while to complete and I will be posting my progress weekly on here. Once the project is finished I will release the source with the engine for you to play about with.Any-who hope you like the idea and concept of this engine and if you have any questions or and recommendations just let me know ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png)

I do not think this will get implimented sorry2. that has been planned just didnt add it to the list yet3. I will dicide this at a latter date as I am not sure weather to do a minimap in the corner or a map button that brings up your location and you can zoom out4. could you expand that idea?5. Marsh
If your making it from scratch as you claim, get the base engine out. I wouldnt worry about any features until you have at least that. Oh and suggestions? Dont make your title in all caps XD

Synergy
Can I suggest Marshy Dearest is right in that you should probably have a base before you even consider features.. How many engines like this start up full of enthusiasm but never come to anything? Quite a lot.

Helladen
Use [Netgore](http://www.netgore.com/), you at-least have good code to work with. Why must everyone make their own engine from scratch with the same systems? The point of making an engine for a game is to make it suited for your game, but if the engine is generic, there's hardly a point in coding your own from scratch. Especially if you're not a very good coder, because if you plan to make a better version of what already exists, you better know how to design and code better than what was done with Eclipse/Mirage.
