**Eclipse Origins.NET is Eclipse Origins that is being cloned into the latest language of Visual Basic, VB.NET.**

**EO.Net VS EO**
EO.Net is programmed using Visual Basic 2008 Express edition. Compared to 2010, '08 is much faster to use. Unlike vb6, one of the main features of Vb.net is that it only requires Microsoft's .Net Framework 2.0 or higher but does not require the library files that vb6 does. .Net Framework unlike vb6 library files is a windows update and is even included in Windows Vista and 7 operating systems so everyone should already have it. This makes it easier to distribute your game. Furthermore, Vb.net is the present Visual Basic programming language while vb6 is dates back to 1998\. Upon many new features included in Vb.Net it is also guaranteed to be supported in future versions of windows while vb6 support is questionable.

That's a stupid reason for converting. The obvious benefits of this are post-Win7 support by default and a much more widely installed library.

Did I say that was the reason for converting? I was just saying it was a small benefit. Especially since people, including you since we know you hate it, won't have to deal with newbs trying to edit eclipse in vb6 portable.

Besides, I'm not the one converting it. If you think that's the reason for it, ask jc instead of me.

You get people struggling to edit the source code of anything, no matter what language it's in. We'll have the same people struggling to run vb6 struggling to run vb.NET. That's just how it is.

Unless Midori gets released, using .net instead of C, C++, D or Java is actually pointless. That doesn't mean I am saying C, C++, D and Java are brilliant languages on their own, what I am saying is that those languages have way more benefits compared to the .net framework, especially when considering performance (in C, generally, perhaps D) and/or supporting a plethora of platforms (in all of them, except the not-so-mature D).

Vb.net 2008 is alot faster than 2010 but it dosnt matter because all projects can be easily upgraded.

And Stephan, I do understand that there are more powerful languages out there and such but this the one I chose to use :/. Overall this is a learning experience for me. Even if this is, pointless.

It's being unefficient. Using older versions of software isn't good because dumb people like you can't get the newer ones to work. Either use Visual Basic 6 or 2010 .NET software. Don't work with out of date software. Even if you can convert it, you still would have to fix bugs with the conversions. Which for some people shouldn't be an option.

@Helladen, so far there are no issues what-so-ever in conversion from 2008 to 2010\. Before I release however I will upgrade my project to 2010 if it will make you happy.

If no one has to use it, then why did you get your own board for the next .net project to die? If it wasn't all propaganda you could as well have made just one thread and asked for a board whenever the 'educational' project was near a stable release. Also, multi-threading is nihil nove sub sole.

Well, if you like VB, you like it. I cannot force you to use another language. I can however attempt to persuade you in using another language, for if you are clever enough and if my point is right, then I will get supported. If I fail at this persuasion of someone, then there will always be others who agree with me and help me in persuading others again… It's a never-ending cycle, on which democracy is founded.

I would like for people to use it. I got my own board so I can get a little more room to seperate specific topics for bugs, media, questions and such when they will soon be needed. I coulda waited but I get ahead of myself and run with what I am doing. Crime? Its not soley educational I also find this fun.

You first work to an alpha release (which is private i.e. for a selected group of people to test), also I don't think you ever heard of something like Git, which is not only useful to manage your code, but also for bug tracking as far as I know. There is no need for a board, unless for propagandistic purposes.

No I have not heard of Git or anything like it, you are correct. Does that make me a bad programmer? No, maybe less experience. And for the board, if you consider it propaganda then fine, you are entitled to your opinion but that was not my intention when I requested it.

Tbh there isn't much point to this because it's just a clone using a different language and you aid something about your own features, but those can be made in VB6 too, correct? Y'know there just isn't much point to remaking a great engine in another language and then coding a few things and calling it an edit.
