turbocookie Posted January 17, 2011 Share Posted January 17, 2011 The light doesnt come from inside the tree :) you have shaded it wrong. shade one side generally near the top asif the sun where hitting it there and then make your way around the whole tree. the rest is nice, except the blue square, what is that? goodluck! VitinhooxD Posted January 17, 2011 Share Posted January 17, 2011 Hmmm what I see is a lot of pillow shading and you didnt do the shading correctly cause it look like one of those cheap effects.Pixel Art isnt about effects or gradients.Also they look really flat. XDSuggestions:1) The building needs to have some sort of texture added to it. No building is as smooth as that.2) Rocks need a bit of dimension. Accoring to your other tiles, you are making a top-down game. Not a side scrolling. It appears somewhat flat.3) Tree leaves look like gumballs. They need to be "fluffier."4) The water is a good shade, but it needs to appear more "flowy" such as water does. Maybe add some current strokes or a little white film to make it appear more like water.5) The dirt needs to be touched up so it looks like dirt, as you said. As of now it looks like brown with gold sprinkled in it.6) Lastly, I would brighten up the grass a tone. Move your colors up the pallete just one shade. (Meaning, your darkest color, move up to your second darkest color, etc.)The cliffs and the fence look really good. You just need to fix the shading along the back border of the cliffs. Your tiles look very good, I would just stay away from constantly using dark shades. You need some life in your game!!!! Looks really good though! Andiii Posted January 18, 2011 Share Posted January 18, 2011 The building is not that bad personally, but it can be improved on. The dimensions of the door and windows are not proportional. Make the door wider and a bit higher.P.S. I think for now I will use tree number 4 + I have to make some path and clifs and water and alot atter stuff.Edit: Ok so I puted the tiles in the tile sheet and made a water and grass.So here is how the test map looks.>!
