Nice contribution. Looks good.

I appreciate the kind words. ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//smile.png) Thanks for the laugh, Enruin. Totally caught me off guard with that picture haha. Some tiny progress: ![](http://i50.tinypic.com/mhbk86.png) Grass is proving to be a weakness. ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) Several attempts haven't left me with much to show for. I may just ignore it for now until I can try again with a fresh mind. Next step is an actual house, hopefully.

I've only seen Spirited Away, but I quite liked it at the time.

Actual transparency doesn't exist in .bmp files. The Eclipse engine, however, reads the very first 32x32 block of your tileset and turns every instance of that color into a transparency. So if your background is pink/light blue or whatever just make sure the very first (top left) 32x32 tile is a solid block of that color as well and the engine will do the rest. Edit: As Abhi2011 said, it checks the first pixel - not the first tile. Oops.

Shadows that are well done can add a whole new dimension to existing maps. Environments look too flat without 'em imo. Do 'em right for that extra edge; we're already facing some tough competition as it is.

Not a bad start. Like Sekaru said, keep the hair in the same style and give it an outline. Wouldn't mind seeing more.

Went for earthier tones, redid the wall, adjusted the tree a tiny bit, and made a grass mock-up to go along with it. Feelin' kinda iffy on the grass… ![](http://i50.tinypic.com/1o4wfb.png)

You're bored and you don't care, eh? Then keep them to yourself. The _Show Off_ board is better suited for work you are proud of or want feedback on. Criticism is to be expected… especially for such sub par work. It's not our burden to make something better. As the one who decided your work was thread-worthy, it is YOUR burden to make something better. Do you think it would be reasonable of me to shit in a frying pan, fry it for 5 minutes, serve it to you, and expect only compliments?

Oooo. Good luck to all participants. I'll be watching this one. If I can get around to finishing a tileset, I may enter myself.

I'm not feelin' it. Granted, the retro style is the style I'm least acquainted with, but this just doesn't strike me as anything special. In retro games, trees are particularly useful for adding contrast and giving a sense of the boundaries. Your trees don't offer that, and their foliage is completely mismatched in value to the rest of the tileset. Try to have some continuity in the colors as well. If you're going the make the dirt that red, don't make the trees so blue. Hue needs to be consistent in order for it to come together as a whole. Sorry if this comes off as harsh.

It was great to see so much participation! and I appreciate the support. I'm a little surprised. Enruin and I were neck and neck for most of the contest for good reason. I really liked his. There were some other well done submissions as well. Thanks for hosting this, SnowStorm.

Finished it too now. Game was short and ending left a little to be desired… but gameplay was awesome. Quality game.

Wow, I've never even heard of this. Looks kinda fun.

I lol'd at the guy with a coat made out of Pokemon. I'm completely against animal cruelty, but PETA is a bunch of loons.

I've been short on free time lately but I'll have some more progress to share soon enough hopefully. Some good points. Is it possible part of the problem could be caused the wall only being a brick thick? Traditionally, stone walls have depth. Mine lacks depth, which may add to the perspective confusion. I intend to add more behind it, like a walkway or something. That'll fix it, I think. As for it looking "off," I'll play around with it a bit. Thanks guys.

Last year's school picture. ![](http://i48.tinypic.com/2a7blg9.png) Y'know, since I don't have friends to take pictures of me. ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//wink.png)

How does it compare to Bioshock? That's all I could ever think about when watching the trailer. I'll definitely be getting this.

Haven't gotten around to the grass tile yet. Here's another teaser of progress. ![](http://i45.tinypic.com/o86hb4.png) As for the tree - I changed it slightly. Open to suggestions if it needs more alteration.

Let's pretend for a second that this isn't just three borrowed images (some obviously suffering from stretch-induced blur) stitched together by a non A/A black line… Why would you think jpeg artifacts are acceptable in a wallpaper?

> You, my friend, must have a really strangely looking dong. You must be… all natural.
-
> So since you didn't draw a package, it means that you must not have one… at least according to your logic... I think... You're right!

I was aiming for saturated tones with both bright and dark values - something I failed to achieve with my last two attempts. I guess my eye has grown dull because I'm not sure what you mean. How would you suggest the color be altered? By too much emphasis do you mean it's too dark of a color or there's too much of it? Thanks

> [http://new.weavesilk.com/?22k](http://new.weavesilk.com/?22k) It's most natural to draw from reference - that which you're most familiar with. Now we all know you have a chode. ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//smile.png)
