I decided that I need to make something too, so I completed my map from old version of my game. I will probably do more and better, this is just beggining. ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png)

Just a question about the creation of the map.

I do all my mapping in Photoshop before turning it into a tileset and adding it to my game(s).

As long as it is a functioning map added to the game through the map editor, does it adhere to the rules and hence may I use this technique for the contest?

Interesting approach mapping in photoshop, but it definately sets you at an unfair advantage. You see, in Eclipse we are bound by both the grid, and layers. You could easily rack up detail and variety by keeping everything outside the grid and use as many layers as you like. So yeah, as the rules state, I believe you definately would have to use Eclipse.

I don't see how it is an 'unfair' advantage. Anyone could do the same in photoshop, gimp, or paint.net. Of course it's too late to simply pickup and start learning how at this moment, but to those who already do this (because it is a popular rpg maker technique) I really think it is fair. They took the time to learn how to use photoshop or an equivalent, thus they **should** have the advantage. Besides, if you wanted to make that rule now, some of these maps would be disqualified.

Everyone else has adhered to the rules. Allowing you to bend them so you can work outside the limitations of grids and layers would be completely unfair.

> Maps **Must** be made with **Eclipse**

Follow the rules or don't enter.

I really don't mean to cause a fuss, but what I'm saying is that this would technically still be done with Eclipse.

Ex:

You have some plain old house tiles. Open photoshop, add some vines, flowers, shading, color changes, and replace the old house. There you go new improved house still in a tileset, still made with eclipse.

That is different though from completely making a map in photoshop and posting it on here.

Custom tilesets are allowed, yes.

And sorry, I hadn't realized the original question was asked by another user. I gather he meant to do something else other than what you've described.

My best advice to Casper is to [message Solja](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?app=members&module=messaging§ion=send&do=form&fromMemberID=37160).

As forementioned, using photoshop allows you to work outside the grid, disregard layers, and everything else that makes it different to using eclipse.

Ok guys, to clear up the issue of using photoshop to map ~ No you may not use photoshop to **MAP** and import them to Eclipse. However, You are able to create a custom tileset to use. We will be able to tell whether the map has been created in eclipse quite simply, As if you are using shadows/shading/clouds as an overlay from photoshop, It is apparent they do not adhere to a certain grid pattern used in Eclipse.

The date that entries are allowed, are until 11:59 PM of Nov 30th. I will be online ASAP on the 1st of December; If there are any late entries that only just miss the deadline, I will consider adding them into the voting list when the time comes.

Thanks guys, happy mapping and I hope we get a few more entries!

Typically I have an office move to contend with today so haven't had a chance to finish it to my liking, however here is my entry:

Inside:

Its a little hamlet/village in a snowy mountainous region.

EDIT: Please ignore the random logs outside, those are Items, I hadn't removed, not part of the map!

I'm definately going to enter, but I'm working on a tileset right now. I'm not sure when it'll be done, but I think it really sets the mood for the time of year ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png) village map is almost done, just need interior.

He lives in Australia I think, so it may technically be over. I hope not, however, as there's still a good 9 hours left of the 30th where I live.
