Admiral Refuge
No, not again with the LHC -_-Actually, a professor said that it would take 50 months for the mini-black holes to eat the earth….Do the math, 50 months from now, is 2012 xD

Admiral Refuge
Here's the topic about the LHC from awhile ago:http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,28883.0.htmlWhat people think, is it will be smashing particles together so fast, it will create mini black holes and destroy the world…Too bad particles get smashed into the moon faster than that on a regular basis... No world destroyed...http://www.scientificblogging.com/big_science_gambles/interview_professor_otto_rossler_takes_on_the_lhcHere's a quote from that professor:> Mini black holes grow exponentially rather than linearly inside the earth: “mini-quasar principle†[2]. Hence the time needed by a resident mini black hole to eat the earth is maximally shortened – **perhaps down to “50 monthsâ€Â**. This contrasts with the “50 million Years†obtained assuming linear growth by BBC Horizon [3] and CERN’s analogous “5 billion yearsâ€ÂYep…. 50 months, that's 2012
dg1423
@Robin:> It was invented by [Sir Tim Berners-Lee](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Tim_Berners-Lee), a British scientist.yup, and he was a scientist at CERN. xP
Admiral Refuge
CERN rocks, I have a friend who has been waiting for the LHC for over a year now. He's been there afew times, and once the LHC is active, he's going back to test some of his theories

shadowwulf
well im thinking if we make a super huge subterrainian drillling vehicle… and have it completely computer operated, have it hold tons of liquid nitrogen... then send it down into Earth...eventually it will make it down into themagma and melt and fall apart.when the liquid nitrogen and the magma meet the extreme temperature difference should cause a nice reaction... or maybe just make a really huge volcano... either way it would be cool.or trail a really good rope out to the moon and anchor it down. then sit back and watch the fun begin...or make tons of really large jet engines... secure them well into bedrock... have them all fire simultaniously agains Earths rotation and see if it slows us down enough to stop gravity... woot! Reguba
Haha, that's hilarious. Ya know, not many people seem to be talking about this fact, unless we do this experiment with the collider our science will kind of come to a halt. This is one of those huge steps man-kind will have to make if it wants to continue to advance. For example sending people into space, many thought it could not be done but it was and that was an enormous step for man-kind.
