> Is Magic hard to get into? > > > > I was thinking about starting. Depends on if you have any friends that also play or are interested in getting into it. Otherwise, there isn't much to do with the cards except to play with yourself :P I think it's pretty easy to get into, they've had the same rules since they first launched. Play one land per turn, turn it sideways when you want mana to play any cards in your hand. Wizards of the Coast has been doing a pretty good job of explaining any new abilities in there sets. As Xelander said, definitely stick with Standard to start (Standard is the latest two blocks of themed sets and the latest Magic Core set) I've been collecting for so long that I have cards for Legacy and Standard. Legacy opens open into a whole slew of sets spanning back to the 90s and can get overwhelming. Other than that, have fun. Careful where you play, I find the players at Magic shops are super competitive and will halt play just to make sure things go according to tournament play (where you have to announce phases and it just gets super technical) Not that there is anything wrong with that, but imo, if we're not playing for money then there is no need to be a huge stickler for the rules.

I like the first story best, however, the whole "Just a dream" plot twist is a little bit cheap and always seems more like a cop out than a mind blow. If I might make a suggestion, the 'Player' could just be exploring when he finds the 'Object', not knowing what it is or why it's there. When the 'Player' goes to retrieve it, it turns out the 'Object' has been sealing away a 'Great Darkness' which is now unleashed upon his home village nearby. The reason the 'Player' is not taken by the 'Darkness' is because the 'Object' protects him in a comatose state. When the 'Player' awakens he returns to his village to find it empty and cold. Thus begins the game where he solves mysteries and seals away the 'Darkness' bit by bit, saving villagers as he continues, or he can save all the villagers at once when he seals away the 'Darkness' at the end of the game if you want to have a constant feeling of loneliness throughout the whole game. Personally, I prefer the former idea of saving one or two villagers when he seals away major parts of the 'Darkness' as this gives the 'Player' motivation to continue playing as he refills the village with people, which also gives the 'Player' a place of security to go back to so he never adapts to the 'Darkness' from prolonged adventures in it. Good luck with your project. ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//smile.png)

Just thought I should throw my half-cent in. I have a computer I've been using since 2006(6 years ago for the mathematically declined. ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) ) and I have recently upgraded to the new Windows 8 and I'm fucking loving it. It runs several times faster than Windows 7, and the Start Screen is awesome, I've already customized it with everything I want on it. I don't get all this bitching about "Herp Derp, its fur tablets Hurr" a tablet is a computer… guess what, everything you do on a tablet you also do on your computer and your PC games aren't going to start asking you to use a touchscreen to play, its still a fucking desktop computer... "But Vista was terrible so Windows 8 should be terrible!" people that bring up Windows Vista when discussing Windows 8 obviously don't understand WHY Vista was terrible and are simply trying to project its failure onto the new OS. Windows 8 cuts out all of the extra shit that bogs down Windows 7, what you people really need to ask yourself is "What did I use from Windows 7 that Windows 8 broke?" the answer, by the way, is "nothing". This topic is probably null by now but I wanted to mention that I think MS went in the right direction with this.

All this bitching over "originality"? Good luck with that, not even the AAA industry can create an original game. All you haters need to start making some legitimate criticisms, this is an amazing feat of programming ability. The next person that bitches about "Schmoriginality" like its something that falls from the sky on a daily basis is getting a warning. Keep up the good work guys.

I have dealt with those disturbing the communities peace, unfortunately I have no idea how to put the shoutbox back up so you'll all have to wait until there is an admin that does. As for the offenders let me make this clear, this a hobby site made for game-making enthusiasts and a generally fun place to hang. We don't need these elitist ideals of "Project Standards" and the Eclipse staff always get to every REPORTED case, if you feel the staff isn't doing its job, how about you do your part and REPORT IT! I cannot stress this enough! In the mean time, members, please enjoy your stay in one of the many boards we offer until our shoutbox is back in functioning order.
