Gwen
Ok so you want to use eclipse 2.7, but you wont listen to us and get rid of Vista. Well kiddies, i'll show you how to get this forbidden love triangle straightened out.I recently installed vista on my laptop so i thought I'd make another tutorial for you guys… especially since a lot of people were stuck trying to get it to work with vista.Make sure you have a user account with administrative rightsFirst of i went to the main page… www.freemmorpgmaker.comThere i downloaded Eclipse 2.7\. I used the zip version since i did not have rar, but either one will work.[RAR](http://freemmorpgmaker.com/2.7/Eclipse-Evolution-2.7.rar)[ZIP](http://freemmorpgmaker.com/2.7/Eclipse-Evolution-2.7.zip)At this site I also downloaded the library files… THIS IS A MUST![Library Files](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/LibraryFiles.zip)Note: Marsh might change these files…Marsh made this new library installer so go ahead and download it also[Marsh's new library installer](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/LibraryFiles.rar) You are going to need rar installed.Ok now we are all set. Extract Eclipse to your desktop, copy ELI2RC4, and libraryfiles.exe into your eclipse 2.7 directory. If you downloaded Marsh's installer copy that there too. Your directory should now look like this… all tho if you downloaded Marsh's installer and extracted it, it should be in there too.![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/directory.jpg)IMPORTANT!!!! DISABLE UAC YOU MUST DO THIS!!!!IT WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT DOING THIS!!!!Open Control Panel and in the search put UAC![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/UAC.jpg)Now uncheck the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" anc then click ok. Say yes to any prompts.![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/UAC1.jpg)REBOOT!!!!!!Ok now we should be ready to start this tale of misery and heartbreak…First lets try Marsh's new installer... I have not tried this myself... I dont have rar, and he sent it to me right after I figured out how to get it to work the other way....I believe you just double click on the bat file and let it go.... Hopefully you will be all done and can start server.exe, and the client. If not continue on to Goddies installNow lets use Goddie's ELIDouble click the ELI program and follow the install steps. This is pretty tricky to install... Next... Next... Next... Finish... I was just about ready to call it quits then!!! But i trudged on and made it through.![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/libraryinstaller.jpg)Try starting Server.exe in the server folder and see if it loads. When I tried i got this error…![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/Eclipselibraries.jpg)So I tried Libraryfiles…This was another hard program to install but if you just stick with clicking next you should be ok.![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/libraryfiles.jpg)I was now able to start the client and Server.exe… but i was not out of the woods... a whole new set of problems opened up...Next I was greated by our good friend "Error loading scripting engine"![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/errorloadigscriptengine.jpg)OK I'll admit I was really upset at this time and I cant remember exactly what i clicked on to get rid of this error…. BUT the problem has to do with registering a dll... or maybe it got fixed after I turned off UAC and reran Libraryfiles... For now we are just going to assume you did not get this error... I will explain how to fix at the end since really its all one fix for all these errors.Next I tried running the client.. I got some of the windows xp SP3 errors...![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/inierror.jpg)![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/colorerror.jpg)![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/rte339.jpg)Now I orininally tried installing the libraryfiles before turning uac off so that might have been why i got these errors… I forgot what step i did this in... but I turned off UAC and reinstalled the library files and everything worked for the client. After getting the client working I tried the server again... Now im greeted with the always popular "RTE 429 ActiveX can't load object"I was stuck here for a long time. I tried everything... well almost everything. I called it quits, said you vista guys are on your own!!!Then I figured i'd try one last thing, since it worked for fixing either the client or the scripting engine.I went to the data folder in the client directory. In there are a bunch of dll files. I right clicked on the first one and said open. Then I clicked on Select program from list.![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/open.jpg)Then I clicked on browse, and went to C:\windows\system32\regsvr32Then I cllicked on open…. Now go all the files and do the same thing. If you see open with just click open with and select regsvr32\. Once you register all of the dll files in here everything should work.Hope this helps! ddunit
Lulz at the name. Just run the library installer as admin xD
Gwen
DDunit that does not always work… as in my case. I did every possible way of installing the libraries... run as admin, logged in as admin, uac on, uac off, eli, libraryfiles, registering directx7, directx8... and all combinations of all of these together. These were the steps I did and got it to work... a lot of people complained about the starting script engine, and rte 429... along with the XP SP3 client errors. Gwen
that file is in the client\data folder.. you dont have to redownload it. First try marsh's new bat file… then try my open with technique on all the files in that folder.

goku1993
wow that's a bunch of errors but you know you don't have to get all of them.all i did to fix everything was install library files then if a file was missing download it using google and register them using command prompt with run as administrator and then you're done. Devogen
I have installed Eclipse on:*A Toshiba A7 laptop running Vista corporate, SP1 - eclipse and librarys have 0 issues.*A toshiba A9 laptop - same deal, no issues*Quad core running vista ultimate/windows7 - still no issues at all.in fact eclipse is running better than it ever used to - i now get no lag at all lag when i have multiple clients open on the same local netowrk. So i the end my experience with Vista and Eclipse has been the same as XP and eclipse, Win7\. Hassle free.am i just lucky?

Devogen
@Marsh:> Ive personally never had any problems. I mean ive gotten errors but they only take a few seconds to fix. Ive installed it to many times to count.Well sure I've had the odd RTE, but they are not RTE's that seem to be caused by the code itself, as I can his compile again and it skips the RTE the second or third time - but i do mean it does it once in a blue moon, i think ive had maybe 2 or 3 RTE's in 6 months. I think its just VB6 and vista maybe - never had that issue on XP.Im personally using a 30 day activation vista version, so i need to re-install ist every 30 days to keep functionality (which i like, keeps things fresh and stable) so im the same Marsh, I've installed eclipse and everything related so many times now i cant count, and it's just never been a problem for me. Considering all our hardware is probably completely different, it's nothing too surprising.
Gwen
yeah i dont know…. this was a fresh install with running all vista updates... I just used what was available, and got what ive seen a lot of people get and complain about.Ive had two identical computers, and tried running a piece of software on both. it worked fine on one, and totaly blew up on the other, so who knows why computers do what they do.
