So, let's see where we went wrong..

There are different kinds of ways to approach pixelart, you can either decide to block it out or use outlines.
You seem to have mixed those two, which resulted in blocked outlines. These two don't match well so I suggest starting with an outline "which is the easiest way for beginning pixelartists".

ps: paint is an excellent tool :) especially for lineart. When you're coloring pixelart I prefer graphicsgale or paint.net since they have extra layers.

besides it's not that hard to pick your own..

@Dragon- stop trying to get your Post count up with meaningless posts

Look at Green Raven's thick outlines post, it really is great. Also paint=win.
When I do art of any kind, I look at something of a certain style and try to imitate it. It is a lot easier than pulling something out of thin air, especially when you aren't experienced in the field.
