This is my first attempt at actually spriting and I think I did pretty good. Criticism is much appreciated. Unfortunately, I can't map with this tileset until I get Project Vertigo to work. :icon_crap:

He posted this as his first tileset, I've seen a lot crappier things, for a first, the shape of the objects are very well done, no there is not hardly any shading, but 0/10? Then what would a whole bunch of scribbles be to you?
(Removed a crappy part of the post before even posting it)

Here are a few things I would say you should improve on Wraith:
-Shading, it's REALLY important to shade your images with at least 5-6 shades of a color, usually not more because it begins to look like a gradient at above 100 colors, or above 100 shades of a color.
-Shaping, the stuff under the grass on the platforms is a bit too…plain, try making it actually have some texture and more pixel work, rather than just being circles.

Other than that, I do say it is a good job.
Also, I do not mean to start any wars, as that would be stupid.

Above I have a few things that would improve your pixel art, not all the things, but some of them.

Thank you  :azn:.

About the shading, I know it's not in-depth and that was what I was going for is for it to be very simple and smooth looking. However, the circles I just saw it was blank and thought it needed something to fill it in so I guess I can add some other things in also.

Update:
Added a tree!

The tree seems quite a bit…lopsided, and the shading is a bit too dramatic, you should at least stick another shade in there so it isn't just from one color to the next, also it looks as if you just drew this with a paintbrush in something like paint xD
To rate the tree, I give it 4/10, it needs quite a bit of work.

@Wraith:

> lol, sorry to say, but I am using paint

Don't be sorry, paint is all you need and all I use for pixel art. In all truth theres very little feedback I can give you to help you improve because you wouldn't understand it. You should start with the very basics. Work out your lineart, and selecting a palette.

Get the better version of MS paint, it works well for pixel art. Spechno already posted a link to it, getpaint.net. Like he also mentioned trees need some work, the platforms aren't spectacular, but that's not to say they're bad either. IMO, the platforms could use some shading, at least the top where your elements for the level (grass, snow, ect.) are.
