Usually I hate female singers in bands, but IWABO is amazing live and just an overall awesome band. Light this city broke up a week before I got to see them at thrash and burn :(.

If you scream for a metal band and your throat hurts, then your doing it wrong. Done correctly, it doesn't discomfort the vocalist at all.

Screaming isn't hard at all on anything really. I thought it was the same as what you did, until I practiced. You use mostly your diaphragm.

Evanescence is more hard rock. Still, half of the bands I have heard play with female singers that are in a metal lineup sing with normal, strong woman voices. Besides, the OP is death metal, not metal.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that, Renzo. Hard rock has nothing to do with Emo.
If you go back to the 80's, where emo first originated, it grew out of hard punk, not hard rock. It was a turn away from the community towards the individual.
Hard rock has nothing to do with Emo.

Screaming isn't hard, the only thing I find hard is to 'spread your breath?'. I'm always out of breath at the end of a longer sentence and the last words sound like crap :d
