First, a foreword:

Now, my arguments:

Anime has hurt the development of Western animation more than almost any other single force. Why? Because it's cheaper to produce, and dumb kids think spiky hair is the shit.

I am continually stunned by the amount of unoriginal crap that people love because it's anime. Look at that poster. You've seen that same layout ten thousand times, you'll see it ten thousand more. For every one original anime, there is an uncountable legion of painful rip-offs of already tired material.

>! >! ![](http://pics.livejournal.com/crazydeus/pic/000kkxz6)First, a piece of art from Yoshitaka Amano, an artist who has a style refined enough to actually be considered art, despite still being anime. This is about as 'badass' a piece as I've seen him do, and while it is artistically sound it's a little unexciting.
>! >! ![](http://www.coolscifi.com/gallery/files/9/5/frank_frazetta_eternalchampion.jpg) Second is a piece of art from the amazing Western artist Frank Frazetta. If you haven't heard of him, go look him up. He's capable not only of doing action scenes that you can feel the motion in, but he can also make the female body more alluring (and unique) than this cookie-cutter BS coming out of the East. Frazetta>Amano.

And my closing statement:

Pictoral essay complete. Crusade mode disengaged.

That's every single entertainment medium in a nutshell right there. xD

I used to love anime because of the art style used. I remember I used to draw my own DBZ characters and my own pokemon, but I soon realized (As Thorn has pointed out) that the artwork isn't anything compared to some more western artists. I still enjoy the old animes I used to love as a kid, but not the newer seasons that are out that made them suck with their outrageous storylines.

R.I.P.
-Pokemon
-Digimon
-Dragonball Z

You will be missed.

You know how psychology can't judge personal preferences? This is one of those times. Just because you don't like anime, doesn't make it shit. Personally I'd have to say western animation died off after Tom and Jerry, but that's just me.

First off, thank you Thorn gor putting us off topic due to your need to rage … again. Now to my rebutal. Honestly, anime and eastern animation has done nothing but brought the idea that animation can be used as a story telling device that isn't just directed to kids. American animation has gone down the shit hole due to our society's general belief that only children watch cartoons. It is only due to this that the controlling distributing companies (Disney, Nick, Cartoon Network) that american animation has been soley targeted to the attention spans of 10 year old.

Due to the emense flowing of anime into the western sociey, people are realizing the potential of anime. For instance, France has a very popular animation airing now that is inspiring more (search wakfu).

So don't blame another culture's form of entertainment for the lack of a similar one in the home culture. You sound far to close minded.
