Here's my try at making isometric tileset.
What you think about it?,i'm thinking about making a modern iso game too.
These two buildings take me 2 hours to make,so please dont be too brutal.
Please give some suggestions,and constructive criticism.

I will update this thread with new iso… things.

I don't think the angle is right for isometric, you've gotta go two pixels across then one pixel up. In yours you have done 1 pixel across then 1 pixel up.

The angles should be like these:

I'd first try making proper outlines before actually filling them with colours. Like your stairs are all flat because your outline isn't done properly. So I quickly made you an example:

You might want to learn about pixel art techniques as well, before trying to draw isometric art, since that can be frustrating. You'll want to learn about dithering, palettes, HSV/HSB, etc. Two great tutorials can be found [here](http://www.petesqbsite.com/sections/tutorials/tuts/tsugumo/) and [here](http://www.derekyu.com/?page_id=218).

Both are isometric. You are describing the 1:2 isometric projection, whilst he is using the military projection.

No building is a perfect block shape. Some things like the ledges, wooden frames for the windows should be protruding outwards for a more convincing isometric image.

Things like the cross on your church, the stairs on your library and the overhang are extremely flat. One pixel. Add some depth into them cause they look more like paper cutouts than a building.

Something more basic…clean up your art..theres artifacts and overlapping outlines all over your buildings. Spend the few seconds needed to clean them up.

actually in my home town there is a glass building that looks just like the one he made. No shape just straight down glass… that said tho 95% of the time no building is straight down (;

@kyoghin:

> True, a lot of skyscrapers are built that way but I guess my point is that he shouldn't be pixelling those kinds of buildings if he wants to get better.

If you want to win such a discussion, just use " trees" as an example instead. Entropy tells us that no tree will be perfectly straight and symmetric.

It's getting better, but try to create a color palette that isn't so contrasting like the red dots..and like Anna said, find one perspective and stick with it.
