    Main GUI

I think the main issue is that the GUI is over half the gaming screen, regardless of how big the resolution is. It really limits how much you actually see ingame which can be hindering depending on your mapping.
  2. To be honest, I liked your first attempt more. The second one just scares me for some reason with it's over sized head, face and shape. Your sprites don't have to be as humanly accurate as possible, in your case, I think you're just trying too hard. Keep it simple until you get better. I do think you need to work on perspectives and posture though. In both sprites, the feet are pointing downwards so it looks like he's floating in the air or is a ballerina. They should be pointing forwards like your sprite is. Considering coloring, try to keep the fill a lighter color than your outline instead of filling it all one color, like for example, the jacket of your first sprite.
  3. I know this isn't the place to comment, but just friendly feedback from one designer to another. What technique are you using to do your gloss? I'm only asking because I saw several work you did where the gloss has unfilled areas, artifacts, severely jagged edges and being on top of strokes where it shouldn't(It's a rule of thumb. =P).

    Grafic Pack

@Anna: > Black outlines with objects are alright because objects stand above the ground (dirt and grass). The main thing with outlines is you shouldn't have black outlines along the bottom edges of stuff like trees and bushes – where it would physically "touch" the ground (only outlining the surfaces that would be "up in the air"). > > If you try to add black outlines to dirt and grass you'll probably ruin it, and if you remove the outlines from objects, the overuse of textures will make everything blend together too much and be more flat than it already is. So with respect to kyoghin, I'd ignore the comment about the outlines (as the black outlines on most of the trees are good as well). Yeah I guess I implied to remove them completely with my wording, sorry. I meant that it shouldn't be completely black outlines…depending on the objects, it should be a dark hue outline on the objects like dark green for the leaves, and dark brown for the trunk of the tree; just not completely black, at least for the case of his tileset.

    Grafic Pack

Your grass and dirt is really good, however, it doesn't really fit with the rest of your objects because of the black outlining around everything. Also try to round off the corners of the cliff/stone wall to show that there is some depth because it can get confusing to see once you start adding in more complicated landscape. It's looking good so hope to see some positive changes here. :)
  6. I find a problem with how all your trees are almost all evenly spread apart across entire the entire map. I think you should have more types of terrain surfaces on your maps than just grass to give it more life. More long grass is good a good idea but don't just spread em around. Place them in logical places like along cliff walls or below a tree.
  7. Your logo is under your black gradient, margin and padding issues with your content column and your header bars, length of the columns are inconsistent. Lower the opacity on a lot of your drop shadow..or get rid of it completely, because it's very easy to improperly use it. There's more to say but that's just down to design tastes. About the whole rip off of CS. I've seen 100s of unique ways the navigation can be done on a lot of websites and yours just happen to have the same style as CS? Big coincidence there. It's okay to say you got some inspiration from someone else's layout, thats how all websites are made. The fact you didn't mention any of it is why people are calling you out on it.
  8. Sorry for the double post but I had to or else he wouldn't notice if I just modified my previous post. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/CitoCide/Siggies/lifeofeclipse.png) Tell me if you want any changes.
  9. @Tousen: > I would suggest instead of asking for one to experiment with craft tools like paint.net or PS and trying yourself, nothing feels better than when you make it yourself and the way you want. Again, this is the request board for a reason, if you don't have anything to offer, don't post anything. I'll see what I can do Axis when I'm free.

    Sprite

@BoDu: > lol its that bad ? o.0 I didn't say it was bad, though I'm not going to question the style you chose, thats your choice but all I said that you aimed for a top view perspective and it didn't work out for the reasons in my previous post. If you wanna fix that, do some research on perspectives to figure out what went wrong.

    Sprite

That's not a top view perspective I'm sad to say. All you did was make his legs short and that's not enough. He's still looking straight at us meaning the view is eye level and the rest of the body shows no distortion.

    My Tiles

First thing I noticed is that your grass/dirt tile does not match with the rest of your "retro" graphics since the pixel size is not consistent. Also, I have a real problem with the perspective of the house…It's just that it's totally wrong at the moment with an eye level perspective of the house on your birds eye view ground, it just makes the house look like its lying flat on the ground. Edit: One last thing I want to mention is try to steer away from the pattern fill on your roof. That's just the lazy way. I suggest trying to make them actually look like roof shingles.
  13. @Sada: > Her shoulders are too wide. What Sada said, the shoulders and the jaw are too bulky at the moment. Make them more slender with a more pointed chin and soften cheeks and it should look better.
  14. I think you need to make the shadowing or the outlining of your rat a little more darker, its hurts the eyes trying to see something already so small; the details of the face and body.

    3D

Nice models dood, worked with blender for awhile too so glad to see someone else here is using it! Also, are you gonna apply a subsurf division filter to smooth out the model for some of your renders in the future? o_o

    What program are you using?
  17. @D34DPΦΦL™: > Ok guys, thanks for help,i tried to use your suggestions, and here's what i made: > House v.2.0 > ![](http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/9024/houset.png) It's getting better, but try to create a color palette that isn't so contrasting like the red dots..and like Anna said, find one perspective and stick with it.
  18. True, a lot of skyscrapers are built that way but I guess my point is that he shouldn't be pixelling those kinds of buildings if he wants to get better.
  19. Stop going for the gradient effect, it's terrible for pixel art, that's one reason why you're getting so much negative feedback from people. Go look up dithering for pixel art and learn how to do it. It's extremely simple to learn and there's tons of tutorials out there.
  20. No building is a perfect block shape. Some things like the ledges, wooden frames for the windows should be protruding outwards for a more convincing isometric image. Things like the cross on your church, the stairs on your library and the overhang are extremely flat. One pixel. Add some depth into them cause they look more like paper cutouts than a building. Something more basic…clean up your art..theres artifacts and overlapping outlines all over your buildings. Spend the few seconds needed to clean them up.
  21. Hmm, played this at my college for quite awhile, probably wasn't the smartest idea..
  22. @Helladen: > The shading on all your art is done completely wrong and the smoothness is very bad. > > Wut? Pixel art is when you use little colors, it doesn't matter what program you use. Such as no alpha channels/etc, his art can be considered pixel art. I use over 20 colors when I do my sprites so I guess I'm doing it wrong. I think you need to go back and reread carefully the definition of pixel art..(Hint: There's a reason why it's called PIXEL art).
  23. It's coming along good! One thing about the movement though, I think you should speed up the walking and slow down the running a bit and it should be all good. :P
  24. Robin tell me to install library files, I go to school library, they don't know what I'm talking about, HELP!
