_A brief history of **NarutoRealm**_

NarutoRealm was founded in 2006 by a person that went by the name of Kajaman. He was a quite talented pixel artist that gathered an amazing team. The team consisted of many people that went by the names of Dark Echo, Kite, and many others. The community and hype for the game was quite enormous. The forums would have about 200+ users on at a time.  Due to unknown reasons the project failed and Kajaman passed the lead to Kite which you now might know him as Robin. After a while the project failed to develop any further and although I was never apart of the original team, I asked Robin to pass the game onto me and from there on I continued the development further. The project crashed down once again due to my talent at the time not being able to meet the things I wanted and had to do. Many years have passed since then and I am now continuing this as a school project as I'm attending an art school majoring in game development.

**Release of NarutoRealm**

The game will be released as alpha as soon as the features, techniques, and skills listed below are programmed in and battle is fully functional. The game will then be patched and updated with every small to big update. Players and team will get to experience and look forward to the game grow from nothing to a full blown online RPG!

**Objective**

The goal and dream is to have this game imitate the anime itself and gather a small community that feels comfortable

and satisfied playing this game with others.

**People we are looking for**

Dedicated and humble pixel artists that can give 2-4 hours a week to talk to the players, communicate with the team, and get a bit of work in little at a time. I am not looking for someone to just do assigned work, I am looking for someone who will grow with the project as the community and game grows. We need someone that can be apart of our second family. **Who I am as a person**

For starters my name is Tony! I'm 20 years old. Big fan of Naruto for as long as I could remember. Ever since a young age, I have loved game creation very dearly. It all started when I was about 8 or 9 and I was at Blockbusters with my older brother, out to rent a movie. There I saw "[RPG Maker](http://www.emuparadise.me/PSX/Covers/RPG%20Maker%20%5BU%5D%20%5BSLUS-00640%5D-front.jpg)" for the first time! It said I could create my own world where I create, design, and make my own game! I was so fascinated by that back cover and knew I had to rent it. It has changed my life ever since. Shortly after, I had found my first MMORPG. Runescape Classic! Man was I stuck on this game for oh so long. I remember I would sit up all night mining coal to sell for some rune legs. I would miss out on school and get a spanking. But anyways.. I was so inspired to create a game where people all over the world could play and play together that is! I googled MMORPG Maker (and note, I did not know anything about programming) there I found an mmorpg engine called Elysium. Booooooy was I super fascinated. This took me to a whole 'nother level. After a while, I learned more and more from scripting to programming in VB6\. I felt like a bad boy going from scripts to source code. It really was a great and warm memory of a feeling. Eventually I found Mirage Source. The seed of it all. Everything started from there. Everything. At that time, I was quite young and had this stubborn, ignorant, and disgusting attitude. It eventually got the best of me and I could never improve my artistic skills. Skipping all that to the current day, I've grown as a person and still have the fire and passion in me to make and release a game.

I'm using NetGore which is programmed in C# for this. Thank you.

Yeah I thought the same. it does look quite weird without clothing. I've just been stuck so long with it that I don't see anything in it. I'll probably give it some small touches that shouldn't interfere with all the paperdoll I've done. Thank you, Rory.

I'm pretty sure your legs don't get longer when you breathe. Assuming this is a breathing animation, it shouldn't even be noticable on a pixel art sprite. If he was breathing heavily from exhaustion, perhaps his chest and shoulders would noticably move, but this isn't the case.

Yessir! I completely agree. I knew this as well when doing it. The reason for this is because me and my other crew member decided that we wanted to escape the still image of a top-down 2D game but we wanted to do it in a way where it would not effect our development having to go through 30+ paperdoll and spending hours and even days fixing it when it takes a couple of seconds to move the offset y up and back down. Even though it looks cheap, it still works for us to use a simple marquee tool, select the complete upperbody to the arms and pull up, Thank you though :)

**Major update**

The team has decided we would switch to 3D sprite art for exterior/interior objects to release content in a much shorter amount of time whilst still achieving the same goal and having a higher rate of maintaining game style. Buildings, trees, rocks, blah blah blah will be built in 3D software and rendered as toon to blend all other artwork such as sprites in.

With that kind of art style it would be better to have the game rendered in 3D and the 2D sprites rendered as billboards like Ragnarok Online.

In my opinion, rendering 3D stuff in 2D to use as backgrounds looks very amateurish. Especially the way it's rendered now without anti-aliasing..

I see where you're coming from but that would just be alot more work considering the engineering and the additional 4 direction sprites.I do have the time to spare on it but it isn't something I want to go all out on. Putting large amount of details on small things that players wouldn't even mind or notice half of the time is what is going to drag me down from developing the game any further. Of course I'm not saying I can draw a box that's of one color and pretend it's a house that'll work with my sprites. Right now, this is what I really feel that'll work to create the image in my head and that'll get me to be able to release a game for the first time ever. It's fast, flexible, and suits the games needs. Though, I'm not trying to convince you. You have a very valid opinion and that's the way you see it.

Haven't updated in a little bit but we have more a amount of progress and very important updates.

The project's name has been changed to **Tailed Beasts**, due to the fact that there are many copycat NR's.

For that, I gave the GUI a small makeover and have our new logo ready.

We will be releasing 0.1 very soon but it will only have character customization, walking, chatting, a few items, and other small things. 

**InterNAP Bandwidth transfer for low latency! **Quite expensive hosting though, I might say. But.. it's already been paid for.

Don't mind the blank faces and default GUI! Customization is on it's way and the gui will be modified right before release.

We're still in very early development but we decided it would be fun for people to watch us grow and anticipate updates/patches and all sorts of fun.
