  1. What the community needs is a new modern engine to be based on. Game development is fun, and it shouldn't be as hard as it is with Eclipse to get into. I'm still betting my money that whoever manages to build the next big thing after Mirage, will bring about another era of aspiring developers as Mirage has for us.
  2. I applaud the professionalism in your efforts and your team's openness to critique. When I see the way you guys accept the harsh criticism thrown your way by everyone, I can imagine your team going far! You're on the right track, just keep working hard. On a side note, "KAO" is a vulgarity in a Chinese dialect so the name is kind of funny to me :p
  3. Nice tutorial :) I don't agree on using burn/dodge to shade though. I think choosing your color palette and painting the shades on gives a much better result when done properly! Burn and Dodge doesn't play with Hue value so it just darkens and lightens, giving a boring "white light source" final palette.
  4. Just because it's possible to steal art, doesn't mean you make it easy. Most of the people who would steal your art, couldn't make a game even if they wanted to. You make it hard as an assurance to your artists that their work will not be released into the public domain the moment you release the game. Imagine you're a programmer and the moment you release the first alpha of your brand new game, some guy takes your source code and makes another game project stemming from your code.
  5. The problem is the ease of accessing full sprite sheets that can be easily put into an open source engine. It's the same thing as someone having access to your programmer's coding and easily taking original systems like your guild system straight into their engine.
  6. I don't think that saying copyright your graphics solves anything. Everything done is copyrighted. If you want artists to work for you, you're going to have some sort of prevention method from easily stealing the art. Just as your composers would like you to protect their music and your programmers wouldn't like you handing out the source code with every client. Not everyone wants to have an open source game, and if you have to work on a game, you'd at least want the option.
  7. That looks so amazing! Keep up the good work.
  8. The engine is looking top notch, looking forward to seeing where this goes!
  9. Prices are reasonable :) but you need to expand on your portfolio. Not asking you to do work for free, but you have to show more credibility.
  10. > Now share your knowledge with the community !! > > It would be nice: ( Thank you for the nice comment :) I don't have anything really to share, this just takes dedication.
  11. Hey everyone, I haven't posted an update on my game, Nin Online, for awhile now on Eclipse. I'll show you what we've been working on :) In the fast months we've been working a lot on making do with the limitations of the engine, while creating a fun combat experience. It's definitely a challenge, but we've been making good progress with a wide variety of Jutsus aka. Techniques. Here's an example of a battle sequence with Substitution technique, an AoE technique (Lightning Current aka. Chidori Nagashi) and a directional AoE technique (Great Fireball Technique). ![](http://i.imgur.com/2FSvrVZ.gif) One neato feature would be diagonal/8 directional projectiles. ![](http://i.imgur.com/sB5cHXU.gif) ![](http://i.imgur.com/nAhYNvh.gif) We've got a variety of other jutsus.. Projectiles ![](http://i.imgur.com/2od43gC.gif) Stuns.. ![](http://i.imgur.com/S49pH5r.gif) ![](http://i.imgur.com/VWf3vcC.gif) Targeted Techniques ![](http://i.imgur.com/0pN8zgK.gif) Directional AoE ![](http://i.imgur.com/nz5Xv2p.gif) AoE ![](http://i.imgur.com/FIXax9O.gif) This one is WIP, but it's called Body Flickering. ![](http://i.imgur.com/y5CmcyM.gif) Trap Items ![](http://i.imgur.com/TLvt1bH.gif) We've also been getting an original soundtrack created by a composer called Afilion. I personally love his work. These are some of the tracks he's been doing for us!
