Nin Online: Hairstyles & More

Hey everyone,

Since I just released a public preview/update for Nin Online, I thought I'd share it here!
I only release public previews every 5 days to a week. But we have **daily development logs** on the forum for registered community members only!

There's also one more hairstyle not there yet, which is the one displayed below alongside the Anbu uniform.

This outfit consists of 7 paperdolls, 6 of which are equipment and one of which is a hairstyle.

1. Hair
2. Inner Shirt,
3. Vest / Outer Shirt
4. Glove
5. Pants
6. Shoes
7. Mask

As you can see, we're progressing at an amazing fast pace, and right on track for a july release.

It doesn't just look good too. It all works. Every preview I post is a complete work. For example those hairstyles are all fully animated and paperdolled. There are a total of 14 hairstyles with 27 color palettes which is over 600 combinations!

Hmm, I think the characters should have a pixel-based shadow instead of it being airbrushed. Apart of the building looks too plain, hence I think they need more detail.  If you look at the building as a whole (with the scenery) it just looks flat but the building casts a broad and dark shadow. The white building is (being spherical) clashing with the brown (entrance) building, therefore I think you should make the brown building more attuned to the white by making it spherical and lastly, add some depth to the roofs.

At first, I was disputing the above comment in my head, but after thinking about it, I agree with what he's saying. The buildings could use some texture, and that brown building does clash with the circular building. I don't think making it circular would completely fix that though. Most of the issue is caused by the roof being flat. If it was a normal roof that blended into the building, it would probably look better. The brown building is also too clearly defined. The edges are clear cut instead of being jagged like a real building would. Also, I like the idea of a pixel based shadow, but how about a semi transperent circle with a black outline? I feel like that would match your characters style more.

Looks good. Only thing that really sticks out to me is the shadow on the right of the entrance of the building, its shadow isn't large enough.. actually could just be that it isn't showing on the ground and just the building. Otherwise. looking really nice. Even though I dislike naruto, I'll be giving it a try. Keep up the good work.

You have samples of the movement animations? Going to be tough if you plan to have the characters actually move like ninjas.
