    Competition?

    > I agree that one contest at a time would be a better idea. I think you should have them on a rotating schedule, like programming then art or music or whatever. Plus if you put the game making one towards the end of the rotation it would probably get more entries as people would try to incorporate their entries from the other contests into that game. Ily.
  2. Clear your head don't be protective of your actions, just calm down. Everyone is just yelling at you, either it's just for kicks are they genuinely hate you, but for one, I think you all just need to calm down. I think you should credit the placeholder image for the login screen and other screens that use the image. It's just morally right and will make everyone stop complaining, the image doesn't belong to you and that's why they're mad. They don't like you showing or using something you did not make for a show off thread. Just do it, and stop the hating. (Think of it like a University dissertation, if you don't source material from where you found the image/text/quote/diagram/statistic then you'll be in deep deep trouble, this is to ultimately act like a professional company, don't use something you didn't create, unless you have the rights or an acknowledgment from the rightful owners). You should credit the game, not google search. Google Images is where you found the image but it's not the source. It could be a blog/website but ultimately crediting the rightful game is enough in this case.
  3. Hmm, I think the characters should have a pixel-based shadow instead of it being airbrushed. Apart of the building looks too plain, hence I think they need more detail. If you look at the building as a whole (with the scenery) it just looks flat but the building casts a broad and dark shadow. The white building is (being spherical) clashing with the brown (entrance) building, therefore I think you should make the brown building more attuned to the white by making it spherical and lastly, add some depth to the roofs.
  4. Maybe work on the size ratios a bit more, like the tree looks minuscule to the buildings. The character is also very small, there's just something that doesn't look correct.
  5. I got a copy for free, been running it in Parallels (also used the developer & consumer preview). I like it, it's not that much of a change to me since Parallels automatically skips the Metro Start Screen, so I don't need to bother panning around that menu, but when I installed it on a desktop computer I wished it'd detect a touch screen and if there isn't one then disable that screen. I know it's just 0.1 second different from just clicking the desktop button, but I wish it could disabled out of the package without some third party hack that would require money (Start8?). Doesn't bother me too much, but to some, it's like Microsoft is flipping them off before they can use their computers. As for the 2nd issue, the start button. I guess they could've left it in, it doesn't really make a different wither people could hover over the bottom left corner, they could've just left the start button. I like that you can now attach ISO's without any third party applications. As for anything else, I don't really bother diving into them since I'm never going to buy applications from it's marketplace as I have no intention of changing eco-systems. I guess, for those unhappy, they can always use Windows 7\. I think Windows 8 just needs one tweak, which will disable tablet features and functions. One prompt whilst initialising the setup which would determine if you want touch functionality and the metro start screen. I don't think it's necessarily a bad direction, but they can't afford to lose consumers, and hope they've done the right thing. I like it anyway, but not as my primary OS. Oh a big plus for customisability. [http://allthingsd.co…eave-microsoft/](http://allthingsd.com/20121112/breaking-windows-head-steven-sinofsky-to-leave-microsoft/) **Steven Sinofsky is leaving….. Yikes.**
  6. I like the logo… kinda. I think the logo that you created doesn't reflect the house style of the graphics of the actual game. For example, If I was creating a logo, the main aim would be to create a friendly aesthetic. The font that you've chosen looks too serious to be a logo for Cinder. To me it would be a perfect logo for a medieval or war game. Just imagine logging into the game and seeing that logo and then when they actually play the game, there's a surge of colourful avatars and environments. - Wins

  8. The GUI is okay, I don't like the leather and wooden textures mixed together.

  12. > Final Fantasy Tactics, the original. It never came out in England ![:(](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//sad.png) on the Playstation.
  13. > To this day, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced has been the best game i have played. It was awesome. I LOVED this game so much, I completed all 300 missions (except I think there was more then that, I vaguely remember some were repeatable ?). The story was good as well, and that's probably why I finished all 300 missions. I think the top 4 games would be: * Ocarina of Time (I know, I know, but I have good reasons… I was stuck on the game for about half a year because I could never figure out that when I got silver scale, I had to go underneath the tunnel into Lake Hylia so that I can find the message in the bottle. I just wondered round finding the golden skeleton spiders, and I never did anything else. I must've tried using din's fire on King Zora a thousand times, so that he could move so could get to Zabu Zabu...., I was playing on a small TV at the time, so I didn't think much of it, but I ultimately remembered that I really wanted to progress in the game, but I just couldn't, which makes this game stand out for me... still love it though). * Donkey Kong 64 - Loved the adventure, another story is that you know those game call centers where you get cheats. I was stuck on this game because this game relies on a lot of puzzle solving and you don't really know where to go half the time. I spent 70 odd dollars on a cheats hot line trying to solve some of the stuff in the game. My parents wasn't very amused at the time, and I remember, remembering the numbers that I needed to press to access the cheats for DK64 so that I could get to it faster (they charged per minute). * Golden Eye - Me and my brother played this ALOT, and Facility was so much fun. (Golden Gun in toilet…...) * Final Fantasy IV - One of the first RPG's I played, and I liked the story when I was a kid. I liked how everyone came back in the finale, for that I was really happy because this was the first game in the series where the characters had their own backgrounds. Everyone sacrifices themselves to get you to the end. I got attached to the characters, and was sad when one party member would leave me one by one. So the ending was very much a memory for me. Anyway some to mention: I loved Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, I was surprised that they made the game such a good RPG. I loved the cameos. Grandia 2 was good until I deleted my game save some how, so I could never find out what happened to the vampire girl… Ofcourse Pokemon, but I think everyone has memories of that game here.
