Buuuuuut, Trees(awsome! 9/10)
                 Ground Texture/Cliffs(8,8/10)
                 Characters (9,6/10)

Btw, change that wall in 1st pic, do some edits to it, cuz it looks bit wrong.
Example(very professional job has done in my edit so you can understand xD)

I did a really quick edit on some things I think could be improved

![](http://i.imgur.com/biaoAWs.png)

Tree doesn't seem to have any depth and shading.. it's just a plain texture repeated.. instead of focusing on the leaves you should focus on the tree as whole. Make a decision on the light source and follow it..

Sprites I think could use more dramatic poses and more unique designs, I used Duran sprite from Seiken Densetsu 3 as reference. I would suggest sketching the sprites on paper first.

If you are having trouble with texturing the grass, there's actually really no need to texture it..  :- )

I think the tileset should be more natural looking, I'd suggest references like Chrone Trigger, Seiken Densetsu.. I know I can't make a tileset as good as these games, and neither can you, but I'm not telling you to do the impossible, what I mean is just to follow the shapes/shading done in these games, take a look at the cliff for example, while yours has 2 straight lines on sides, theirs has more bumps on sides making it more natural..

Hope I'm not being too harsh with this comment, since my intention is not to downgrade anyone.. I see the work has been improved through the versions you've posted, and I'm glad to see that you guys are giving your best.. Even though I can't provide you with the best critique and best edits /examples I'm hoping I help you at least a little bit :- )

Goodluck !

thanks for this :) although its not the style i really want i understand what you mean, the trees deffinately need a light source and shading, something i must adresse soon :P

the slime sprites you posted have inspired me to redo mine with a little more character :)

The character sprites will eventually get more poses, just i only made them to the limitations of the 4 frame sprites which the engine can use, but deffinately want to implement more :)

Ill also look over the cliffs some more, try to make them more natural : )

> I really like the v1.1 character sprites. There's just _something _about them…

Yer i also think there better, they are bigger and leave more room for detail, i think that might be why :P

Think i sorted the sprite out pretty easily by just moving eyes like you said.

To fix tree i realised i must totally redo the texture of leaves, this definitely has a direction of light source but im not too sure of final product, what do you guys think ?

I'd suggest you checking out Cure's tutorial on PixelJoint - [Link](http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299) -

Specially the AA(anti-aliasing) part of the tutorial, I think it would help you with the style you are trying to achieve..

That tree is looking way better, but I think you shouldn't have mirrored the sides, they should differ to get more natural look.. :- )
