@Xeross:

> With a lot of programming experience I mean 4 years of programming experience and programming fully OOP. now OOP itself doesn't mean much but lets say I'm working on a complete PHP CMS following the MVC pattern. and well I think I'm nearing (or am already in) the level of experience a professional has (With certificates and everything).

Are you building a CMS from scratch?

Yes I am, and am almost finished with it too.

Is there any engine you recommend as a base then, or just code one from the ground up ?

@Kreator:

> You mapped it eh?

Yeah, he come on and did some sexy mapping for me.

Tbh, I'll probably be re-building the maps from my last game, which won those mapping contests all those years back.

@Kreator:

> Good stuff, love the sprites and overall feel

Yeah, once I finish some more gameplay aspects, I'll be creating a decent chat system and some NPC depth, with walk patterns and face sprites and shit. I should have a decent amount of systems built up over the weekend.

Fixed up:

* Object timer. Can be anywhere between 1second and 1hour.
* Object reward. Can be any item with any value.
* Tool required. Hardcoded set of tools. Pickaxe, Hatchet, Rod etc.
* Difficulty. Not yet used, but anywhere between 0 and 10.

The way the tiles blend into a work of art, makes it look like a real commercial game!

Thanks mate. Removed those images from your quote, they're too big xD

It's all down to design. I was a writer and an artist before I even started programming, but they've all come nicely together in game development.

As ZoSo once said, creating a Map is like drawing a picture. You need to be aware of how it's going to be seen. It needs to have the right weight, it needs to feel balanced (You can't have a heavy side on one half and a light side on the other).

To be honest, the only reason I can make maps like that is because I know how to program them. The doors are animated as opening and closing, each NPC has a pre-set path and conversation line, and it just feels so… 1-player RPG. Which is what I'm trying to do xD

1-player RPG, with other people around it.

Started out with this:

And ended up talking to Seb for a few hours, where he critiqued everything I did ;D

In the end, after him screaming "MOAR SHADOW" at me, I got to this.
