Mockup of Edonis Style/Look

So I'm making a game called Edonis which will be based 100% off Greek mythology. The game will be as historically correct as possible.

Anyhow, I just thought I'd like to share the basic style and "feel" of the game itself.
(PS: The game is in very very early stages of development, and the only tiles I have made are the ones featured in the screenshot.)

This is a Satyr (The buff class) standing on a road and some pillars.

Critique the hell out of it, tell me what you think ;)

I was messing around with the shading and trying out different pallets and came up with this:

I think It makes them stand out more and gives them a little more depth.

What do you think?

You shouldn't make a game based off of history, that was my secret idea xD  Anyway, your graphics look nice, but i think that the pillars still look like they are laying on the ground.  I think that doing something with the base might help.  Still better than the original though, I like the pillars' shading better.

Your pillars have no perspective to them; other than that they look fine.

I did some pillars a long time ago here is an example about perspective (ironically my fluffies sprites had poor perspective!) XD

@Wraith:

> the top is better because of the perspective, but just below the top is still flat

Reason being, is first off the top and the middle part are at different angles to the light source, yet show the same base shade. Since the pillar is also round, you should have the outsides darker, I see you've done this, but there's too little difference between the shades.
