Laughed out loud, I see there's still the mystery of whether or not there is an actual game, and not just art. It's been over a year too since people have been asking around about the existance of an engine and game mechanics in progress.

Not so sure why Akatsuki is still so aggravated but also unmotivated to discuss the game. This topic is to showcase Psithyroi Online, discuss the game's story and it's gameplay, and to answer questions. Personally I too would like to hear if there's any progress on the engine, and possibly see something other then a main menu.

Are the basics done yet? Networking, movement, combat?

Alright, I don't want to go into details about the game because it's on hold and there isn't a need for me to go as far as to explain its current stage. I am not one of the programmers and wouldn't be able to give you the "Detailed" information you're asking for, so i'll just give as much information as I am able to at this point. I currently have my hands full with the changes I am making concerning our team and answering questions i've already answered before over and over gets to an annoying point.

Networking is done, movement is done. Since networking has been completed, a server is required for the game to run. Though the project was placed on hold right in the middle of the server development. Below you will find images of me walking around and jumping in-game. Ignore the missing head, as that was done because we'll be animating the head to do a few things when the player hasn't moved for a while or when doing an emote; and we didn't want to always have to make a complete sprite with different facial animation/movements.

I seem aggravated in my replies because of the sarcasm. Right now the team and I are working towards something different and hopefully more entertaining. We also have real life to worry about as well as college for most. Psithyroi is only on hold for the moment, and there's no telling how long but it will be back.

Keep at it, I assume your not using Project Vertigo anymore, I rechecked a few posts in this thread to catch up on what I didn't know/forget. Noticed wraith said the engine was completely done, assuming that isn't the case seeing as your just hitting up the basics.

Be careful when you show off a lot of 'mockups' such as that skill where the player jumped in the air, and dived down using two weapons. I think it's been a lot of mockups like that one which made the community questioned what exactly is going on here. Anyone can make something look impressive with mockups. I could throw together a screenshot, then overlay fog and produce lighting or particle effects in software, but in-game obviously it's quite different.

Some little more information on the engine:

- It uses java (as you can see from the icon)

- It uses JWGL for graphics probably (As you can see from the cmd-prompt in the background (only if you've used/seen it before ofc)

- It probably also uses slick

And if I would've been faster I would've posted the images, but I didn't know if I was allowed to do so.

(I guarantee for nothing because I am no developer of psithyroi, but this is just what I've seen from the screens)

How do you have networking done without a server? Networking is a client/server process.

Which is why he said a server is now used with it since they added networking….

Meaning before, they didn't have networking and everything was client-side, then they started working on the server until the project was put on hold. Now that its being worked on again they finished up networking with the server….

Read carefully next time please.

The server is there, and we've tested it using one of the programmers local networks. There's this thing called portforwarding which allowed us to connect to this local network and play the game. No one said there wasn't a server; I said a server is required to run the game. In other words, the server is no longer being hosted and was not fully completed. So we couldn't release something as proof because the server wouldn't have been stable enough until tested thoroughly. We'd rather release a game when its properly ready then something that we ourselves don't feel comfortable playing on because the server isn't as stable we'd like it to be.

Please stop trying to find ways to mislead people reading this topic. It is getting very annoying and we have much more interesting things to do then explain things to someone who obviously thinks he knows what we've completed on this project.

Sure. I'll get in touch with the programmer and see if we can get a quick video this week showcasing the currently unstable version. Though you'll be seeing exactly what was shown in the images; only with more then one person walking about.

Woah this got bumped again? Well I'm here with a bit of truth. The reason this has been taking so long is because real life and long breaks. Trust me they were very long. To be honest disorganization, demotivation, laziness and people leaving/joining also played a factor in these standstills. The last time the programmers(well there's only 1 now) worked on Psithyroi was sometime this summer then and yet another break is happening as of right now.

So again we come back to the fact that it _isn't_ finished because the server _isn't_ finished. Also I suggest you stop acting like a Blizzard PR manager, as amusing as it is, getting talked down to by someone who labels himself as a "community manager" of about 4 people is pretty pathetic.

Sekaru stop. What you're saying is not necessary. He said "middle of server development". He said networking is finished because we got on a server with 2-3 people running and jumping around. You're trying to get answers from a person who isn't the programmer, so he can not explain it well. Sorry to disappoint you but no body in this thread asked for your sarcasm. Also who are you to judge someone on how they want to present themselves?

I'm not being sarcastic. I'm simply inquiring about certain holes in your art project's logic. I don't even see why you keep this topic open, all of you react negatively to any sort of negative feedback which is, let's face it, what you'll get no matter what. There's no point in making a game (though I understand this is simply an art project) if you can't take feedback and reply directly to it.

Dude, if you don't like it just stop ducking reading this thread. All you do is keep bitching about the same thing over and over again. We get it, you don't believe that this project is at the stage some people say it is. No need to keep brining up the same points just leave the thread alone and let the people who care about this project do what they want…
