Tileset advice needed.

Your  best yet, but I'd suggest toning down the contrast in the grass and the dirt tiles a tad bit.  They're not supposed to draw the eye.  Then I'd suggest increasing contrast in the walls.

Left one is better unless your game is supposed to be cartoony.

Tufts of grass along the bottom of the wall would be a nice touch, but don't make it repetitive, just do a couple here and there. Maybe make 2 tiles one with a larger tuft and one with a smaller tuft and just place em randomly in a few spots along the wall.

I like the left wall better. And I think maybe pull the saturation in the grass/path down a bit since you can't really increase saturation on a gray wall.

Oookay, tiles are shaping up. I made the grass tufts less distracting.
There's also some new trees (Still working on their bushliness).

But I digress. Here's the screenshot.

Getting better… Now outline the new trees more so they stand out from the grass more.  In retro graphics they often use black for outlines, it could be a good idea for you.  Outline the walls too.

The grass tuft shape isn't great, you might want to try a different shape.

Okay, I altered bits of the trees and added some larger pebbles to the dirt track. I also made some rocks and threw them about. I think I'm going to keep it this bright. It looks nicer :).

Anyway, here's the screenshot.
I'm going to start work on some buildings.

Yeah Ghost's tree trunks are much better because they have more depth of perspective to them. Also the extra dark shade for the outline was better as well (and matched the other trees).

Overall I really like the tiles though, I've gotten into minimalism with tileset graphics (which is usually fitting for "retro" tilesets).

Okay, I've outlined the tree in darker green to make it stand out more, but without being visibly outlined. I also tried the trunk edit, but a 64x64 limit squashed it a little.

Here we are:

The pebbles are only hilighted on one side because having light colours on both sides looked wrong. I'll probably change the larger pebbles, too. The little trees are being redone to put them in-style with the larger ones. The main idea of the lighting from that side was to add the bushiness in without it looking like a green snowman.

I'll be putting those under the knife now.

@Bonk:

> Okay, these are the trees outlined and an example of the wall without the sides and more contrast :/

The set has come a long way. The big trees look nice, and the wall looks a ton better. Except If I were you Id make the inside of the windows darker than the outside frames, put some highlight up near the top of the frame (if youre going for top-down lightsource), and shading at the bottom to give them the same detail as the bricks. Good job at any rate.

Okay, update:

The bottom trees have a top-down light and a colour matching trunk. The window frame can only be seem from the bottom, as the side view didn't make much sense. I added light to where the arch would be, too. The larger pebbles are top-down lighted too. Anyway, here's the screenshot:

It's at this point where I need to say thanks to everyone who's helped and add a reflection moment. Just compare it to the first screenshot!

@...:

Why thank you :) It took some changes, but it's worth it.

Update again: Sand tiles.
First draft, mind :)

Ah ok, now that the windows were changed to have the top down perspective the walls look much better without the side showing. Before you had no sides but the windows had sides so it looked odd.

As they've all said this is much better and you're doing great.

In regards to the tree trunk, if you're having a limitation due to size ( i don't really see why you can't use another 2 bottom tiles but that's beside the point), you should take off a few rows of the trunk near the tree so that you can get the roots to look normal. And probably put that trunk on all the trees so they all look nice haha.

Hello, you lovely people!

Here's the latest progress:
![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/749cf02418c0233e32282b8d7ac79b65.png)

Tree trunks altered and replaced, top-front lighting on the Conifers and a brand new pot. I might make the pot into some sort of resource, so you can get some money from them. I'll work on that…
