Lenton
There is no where on the Eclipse forum to discuss programming which is unrelated with the Eclipse engine.I request that this board structure gets added to the 'Miscellaneous' category:Miscellaneous–--Programming--------Non-Eclipse projects----Website Development--------WebsitesAll topics from http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/board,107.0.html and http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/board,106.0.html should be moved into this structure. Godlord
I am against that board lay-out. I do agree that the boards can be useful though. Instead of the board lay-out provided, I'd rather see a board that involves actual programming threads ("Programming") and another that involves a more specific programming audience which are the website developers ("Website Development"). Considering the "Tutorial" boards are barely used, they don't have to exist at all. There are quite a few reasons to use a more simplified board lay-out. One being that the boards shouldn't clutter the forum (e.g. there is no reason to have three separate boards for web development). Another being that with the currently proposed lay-out several programming languages would be discriminated. Instead of having categories for several programming languages, users of such boards should use the tags mentioning the programming languages used.Yours faithfully Stephan. Lenton
Yeah, I prefer your idea of having an application development and website development board in the miscellaneous category. Tutorials can be posted alongside other discussion/question threads. The current 'websites' board could probably become a child board of website development. Godlord
@Spork:> Area 186 is already there, just most of you guys can't see it ;)It has been moved recently, though. The reason I couldn't see it at first is because the "Recycle Bin" board was off-limits.Yours faithfully Stephan.
Robin
You'd be better off asking your Grandma for help with programming than Eclipse. No one here does any sort of real programming except a handful of people who have better things to do than answer questions on here.Go register on an actual programming board.I don't want to bring back a damn section which is just Jungle asking how to make 'Hello World' programs in Java then crying when no one answers him. Harris6310
I think we should have an off topic game programming board. More about programming game mechanics and less lang specific. It would be a lot more of discussion than tutorials and Q&A.
Anna Comnena
@Harris:> - Misc Programming> – Crap Languages> -- Java> > ;)But you have clones of "Crap Languages" in that setup. ;)Anyway, why not just allow programming discussion to occur in this board? It's not like there is that much Eclipse-specific topics that need in-depth discussion. Most of the decent threads in this subforum are generalized game theory and programming anyway (not Eclipse-specific), and most things that are Eclipse-specific here are support threads on the wrong board. Java is a piece of shit2\. System.out.println("Hello World");3\. I've gotten a lot better at programming than when I used to post here about stuff that's actually game related. For the same reasoning that you use, why the hell should I post my issues on here when the only person who can answer my questions is Stephan (whom I have on MSN)
