Read the link. Last night Norton AntiVirus' update included a strange .exe. This exe apparently takes note of your Internet History and some Google information and relays it to outside sources (in Africa some say, also in Washington DC).

To be honest it feels like a real life conspiracy unfolding before our eyes. Any topic about this .exe in Norton forms is promptly deleted and nobody can make any headway on their phone service. Also topics about the .exe on Yahoo Answers are being deleted.

If anyone has Norton I would advise you to delete it and pick up some free AntiVirus off the net.

Possibly the scariest part: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Lantern_(software)

This is why I do not trust anti-viruses…

**update**
After some looking on the net, I found afew more things come up
http://www.tech-linkblog.com/2009/03/conspiracy-theories-run-rampant-due-to-piftsexe.html/ (has pictures and stuff)

http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2009/03/10/what-is-piftsexe/

Someone on yahoo answers said it was in this area:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Downloads\

Someone else on YA said this:
_C:\WINNT\Temp (or similar depending on your OS) you may find a .txt file which contains a line of information starting with: "the ping url is http://stats.norton.com/n/p?module=…"  The text file will have a name similiar to Norton_PIFTS [Date]_

@Munro:

> Just looks like a problem their having. And a million conspiricy theories poped up.

I'd tend to agree, but questions about it on Yahoo awnsers are being deleted, nortons deletes everything from their forums and blocks those people from reporting or replying, ect.  To much weirdness to be something benign
