Stranger
Last updated: Monday, June 01, 2009Hello everyone, I've updated this first post to make it a bit shorter. Here is the current compilation, It took me a little while with mapping them and personally adjusting certain tiles to make everything work well together (WARNING: Image is pretty massive now) :[http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4534/hallofbeginnings9.png](http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4534/hallofbeginnings9.png)This one has each map numbered so you can point out where errors are or if you want to compliment any one map, just to make things easier as the map expands:http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/4c30cdf040571be8a6c2fd4ed7f5c385.pngI'll be leaving the older image below intact so you can understand the cave routes, just remember that below is an older image. Here's one explaining the cave entrance/exit routes, so you can see whats going on better:[http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7exp.png](http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7exp.png)(in the order you encounter them in-game)A-B: Simple cave entry/exitA-B: Simple cave entry/exitA-B: You fall into the hole and land in the center of the cave, you can't get back up.A-B: This is where you exit, which leads behind the tree, it's meant to be a hidden cave, but easily found by falling through the hole.FRINGED: This is just pointing out that those parts of the cave are fringed and passable, I figured they were an easy way to make caves more interesting. As always, looking forward to opinions/critic, thanks! Stranger
Thank you for the replies :D@Hippoman, I'll look into the crowding, because I also felt this, but I needed some outside opinion because I critic myself so hard that I don't know anymore. As for the symmetrical problem, I'm not sure what you mean.@Lena, Orange? Do you mean the cliffs? Hmm.
Admiral Refuge
9/10, it's great!Haven't seen that tileset in about 6 years; glad someone was able to use it correctly :)
Stranger
Thanks!Yeah, a lot of the tiles are reminiscent of Playerworlds (mainly the tree, dirt, rock and grass) and I always liked them, so I'm trying to put together a more complete version of the tileset. Stranger
@DD, Thanks :D, I've replaced the sprite recently because I did a poor job on resizing it, the new ones work much better but kind of lose some of the character :/ ah well.@Bone, Yeah, I've tried to address the crowding issue in my update -@Everyone, I've already updated the first post but if your lazy (like me) I've included it in this post:–----------------------------------------------------------I've tried to use as much input as I could from you guys and cleaned up each map and made the shrubbery and flowers less sporadic and tried to group them together a little more organized-like.I also tried to make the caves a little more interesting, no one mentioned anything but I found them kind of plain myself.New map, plus more maps:[http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7.png](http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7.png)Here's one explaining the cave entrance/exit routes, so you can see whats going on better:[http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7exp.png](http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Ichikami/hallofbeginnings7exp.png)(in the order you encounter them in-game)A-B: Simple cave entry/exitA-B: Simple cave entry/exitA-B: You fall into the hole and land in the center of the cave, you can't get back up.A-B: This is where you exit, which leads behind the tree, it's meant to be a hidden cave, but easily found by falling through the hole.FRINGED: This is just pointing out that those parts of the cave are fringed and passable, I figured they were an easy way to make caves more interesting. As always, looking forward to opinions/critic, thanks! Bobosk
there's the path leading to the stairs in the cliff(down and to the left of the "Hall"), between the river and the cliff, they both just seem to straight, like you forced the path…The cliffs to the left of the left bridge, seem a little repetetive with the in-out at the same points..The road right after the right bridge, doesn't have a good "stop" it seems abrupt... lacking proper transition(i guess?)Other than those things, it looks to be a very good set of maps, and i hope to see your improve further over the course of your stay with Eclipse! Stranger
Thank you for the input, I've corrected everything you mentioned (I believe)I've updated the first post, sorry it took me a few days, I've been changing a few things around, mapping and editing certain tiles so it took me longer this time. The map now includes the beginning area (very top) and the first town, which I don't have a name for yet. I've recruited some mapping help from a friend of mine so the map is sure to expand much more rapidly now. Thanks for all the help and I hope to see more posts from everyone with their opinions and critic. :D

Stranger
Thanks guys.@[G2D], I know what you mean, my internet is okay-speed and it even loads slow sometimes, I can't imagine what its like for anyone with worse internet..But this is kind of my project, I'll see about making a spliced up version where you can view it in segments instead of all at once, hopefully that will ease some peoples connections. Robin
Those caves remind me of Silverdale a lot.Glad to see the old SNES style isn't dead.
Stranger
I believe their tiles from the same game, I've seen a lot of Silverdales tiles in the tilesets I have (750 tilesets rar I found digging in the resource section)Me as well, <3 SNES.
