Making a CTF game for Eclipse, Ideas/Sprites

We are making a CTF game. The idea and title changed due to flaming, sorry for everyone who liked it, we can still use it to promote Eclipse

While making CTF game would be quite a hassle, I think it would be worth it because it may get more people. What do you think?
If you have any ideas, views, want to help, sprites, scripts, etc. Please post.

I've been trying to get one going. 

I think what we ought to do is just take some pre made capture the flag scripts and toss up about 10 to 20 maps and call it good. It would be simple and fun for every body.  And we already have all the materials we need for some thing like that.

TT that wouldn't require much effort. I like it. I think Capture the flag is a simple game that everyone will enjoy, the videos could be posted on Youtube for some easy players. We could also add a basic PVP area. And add a premade rank system/ticket system. We just advertise the game and use it to advertise Eclipse (put it in the MOTD or News area)

I can donate my new side scrolling tile sets and sprites for it.  I'm not done with them, but I'll get together the basics of what we'd need together and post them to use. 

So we'll have capture the flag AS a PVP!  Sounds good!  Any one want to donate the script for the flag capturing?

What about the community tileset? ;D
Or Slym's tiles.

With some searching, we can find the script. Then we make the YouTube video, and we can embed it on the website's Gerneral Page.

@Robin "No." is quite vauge, what are you saying No to? I assume you me the idea of a community project.

@Admiral Thanks for the postive support "But this will be different" I'm getting started with the mapping now, regardless. I'm just going to open it up once to make a video, then it's done.

I'm going to post the maps, and use the normal tile set then put it  up for editing. This topic will be kept stable (or tried to). No more ideas, we have settled on a Capture the Flag theme. It is not to be changed, doing so will result in chaos. We will pick a basic map/tile set even the Eclipse Base Tile will work (excluding a flag that is)

Hmm, let's see…..

This has been attempted over 10 times, and each time it has failed.  Actually, we get this post about every three months or so.

In each of those topics, I post a list of every other failed community game on these forums (the topics I link to, are usually large topics, where lots of hype is stired up then slowly dies down and the project dies), and the OP says "But this will be differnet", etc... Sure enough, the game fails.

In the veterans board, we are attempting to revive one of the community projects (the one that has gone the farthest) which is a Western MMORPG, Tombstones N' Tumbleweeds, and even that still struggling.

Fixed it.

Can't agree more though, this has been tried several times and they all ended up the same.

Ok for all the people who said "bad idea" delete your posts because I changed the topic/idea. Sorry TT but looks like we wont have a community game after all I will continue with a CTF promo for Eclipse though, as I already found a working quest script and got started.

@Admiral, you went through all that just to prove that this was a bad idea. Wow, you must really hate the idea.

Actually, I already have a shotlist on-queue, google was assistant though for the rest; my point was to let you know (as I let INH, Sylux, etc, know) not to get too upset once the spark dies down, I never said your idea was bad, what I did say, was that it's been attempted many times (atleast every few months) and usually never works.  I'm still trying to hang on to my team project, and still working on the one listed in [in this topic](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,24552.50.html), as well as some other veterans.
I also saw no flaming either, but rather people pointing out that your idea has been brought up amillion times.

With that being said, I think the idea of CTF is a good one; I never saw anything go further with Flag Online (very long time ago, the guy stopped the project) and certainly like the concept of a dynamic-capture-the-flag game, given the playerbase can remain high enough for rounds (I came out with a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game, it was really fun to play, sadly the player-base needed to satisfied the multi-player battles wasn't satisfied :sad:); I'd certainly contribute to the playerbase of this game.

I think some useful scripts would be Grenades and Traps, as well as a nice capture system (e.g. red team dies in blue team's territory, the member is transported to blueteam's jail-area).

The script I found is single capture Game Over and anyone who dies is out. I'm trying to edit some stuff to make this work differently (I'm bad at scripting don't expect anything.) One way would be to make two seperate class groups. I plan to make the whole game revolve around PVP CTF so
EXP = rank. I also want to know whether or not I should make a lot of classes or just 3\. I don't think it is required to have so many.

Off-topic: the flaming comment was pretty harsh. Not flaming really
