YuraguKoto
Welcome to Kyou's guide to recolouring sprites…**1.0 Tools**You will need:Paint.NETSome spritesA colour palette (you can find one uploaded by me below)**2.0 Recolouring**First up open up your sprite and the palette I told you to get with Paint.NET. In this tutorial, I will use this Belle sprite from Beauty and the Beast.Zoom in to your sprite, just a direction will do. Frontal or back is usually prefered.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut1.png)Next, use the Magic Wand tool, and select the Flood Mode near the top of the screen to "Global" and the Tolerance to 0.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut2.png)![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut3.png)Then, using the Magic Wand, highlight the lightest shade of colour to want to change.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut4.png)Next, we move on to the Palette. Use the Eyedropper tool and select a colour you want on the lowest level of the Palette. I want her hair to be changed to blue, so I'm going to select the lightest shade of blue on the Palette.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut5.png)Alright, now go back to the sprite, and use the Paintbucket tool and colour over the highlighted areas.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut6.png)Now that that's done, we highlight the next lightest shade of colour. In this case, it's this one.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut7.png)We now return to the palette, and choose the next colour on the second level. Remember the blue I just used? I will use the next blue on the second level and same column.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut8.png)Well, I suppose you should know what to do by now! Go back to the sprite and use the Paintbucket on the highlighted areas again.![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut9.png)Continue with this cycle until all the colours are complete. Here's my finished product!![](http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy72/Roaxers/Tut10.png)**3.0 Extra Info**The "Global" setting I told you to use will allow ALL the directions for the sprite to change colours as well. This will save a bunch of time.If you ever find yourself having not enough colours on the palette, you can move left or right on the same row for another similar/suitable shade.Hope I helped ><

Wing
This is good, but i use ms paint for recoloring. There is a way to replace colors alot faster using the eraser tool. Some of you may already know this.
Drummerpete
The palette, even on it's own, is incredibly useful!Good tutorial, and can still be used in mspaint, you just can't use the magic wand.. Would take a bit longer but still the same result.
Wing
Its actually a bit faster, as the eraser tool has a function that, instead of erasing, will replace all of a certain colour. This feature is incredibly useful in my opinion.

Patrick
You don't have to use the magic select. Just set the paint fill to global with the correct colour set to 0% overfill.
Godlord
@WiNg:> Its actually a bit faster, as the eraser tool has a function that, instead of erasing, will replace all of a certain colour. This feature is incredibly useful in my opinion.Set the primary colour to the colour you want to be replaced.Set the secondary colour to the colour you want to replace it with.Select the eraser.Press Ctrl + Right Mouse Button and draw.**Protip**: make your eraser bigger using Ctrl and the + key at numpad, although that may slow down GDI.Regards, Godlord. Godlord
In MS Paint you can just so this:* Set the primary colour to be the colour that you don't like (e.g. using the colour picker).* Set the secondary colour to be the colour that you want to replace it with.* Select the eraser tool.* Right-click and sweep over the colour that you don't like.Regards, Godlord.
