lollicat
Try dithering. Rather than a border, you generally want it to fade.

sickporsche
Would this be considered dithering?![](http://www.wikihow.com/images/f/ff/Checkerzoom2kq.png)
Godlord
[This article](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dither#Digital_photography_and_image_processing) should give you a basic idea about what it is, how to use and why to use it.Regards, Stephan. lollicat
Dithering is basically a zoomed in checkerboard pattern. See the attachment.Shiiiiit I meant the other way around, haha.
sickporsche
Nice find, and thank you for helping. I need more of a illiterate pixel artist guide. Would this be a good explanation of dithering?http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Pixel-Artist
sickporsche
Shouldn't the dither and not dither be the other way around.

sickporsche
I didn't dither, but I tried something a little different. Let me know if it looks better.![](http://i25.tinypic.com/2ykh01c.jpg)
Jeff
looks better, but maybe make it even smoother? ninja pixel artists can pull off non dithered stuff easily, but im assuming your not a ninja pixel artist based on your lack of knowledge. I would recommend trying dithering as well. sickporsche
Dithering seems more complicated. I like how you said the lack of my knowledge haha, I'm hoping you didn't mean it in a rude way. Besides the point, what do you mean by smoother? Make the transitions more round?
Jeff
no, I mean more smoother by it gradually changing. If you want a really good tileset tutorial, use anna's here: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,41352.0.htmlIts what i used to make some of my tiles until i got really bored. sickporsche
@DDunit:> Looks like a giant crustless sammich floating on green water, please, the tiles are bad and the transition is horrible.Instead of criticizing in a rude manor, why don't you explain why the transitions are bad, and why the tiles are bad. I guess you can't read topics. I'm asking for advice since this is the first day of doing tiles.
