semlemsushi
Salutations, recently I have been trying to use Eclipse Origins because of all it's special features. There are major downside to me, though:> Graphics are now split up into different sheets and the engine manages its memory properly, purging any graphics not used and only loading graphics when they're needed.Remember in Eclipse Stable and 2.7 how all the sprites are located in ONE spritesheet? In Eclipse Origins, every sprite is an individual sprite file. This means that if I want to transfer sprites from Eclipse Stable or 2.7, I have to set up a corresponding grid so I can properly rip over 200 sprite rows from the sprite sheet. This is time consuming and there is no need for this annoying nuisance.(Possibly?) there is an image converter that converts every sprite from a big spritesheet into other individual sprite files, I have never seen something like this, but I hope there is something like this. I really want to use Origins because it fucking pwns, but the only problem is the sprite issue. if anyone could come up with a solution to my problem (eg. spritesheet convertor) then I will be most great full. And now on to Eclipse Stable:> It my last resort, and I don't want to use it but if I have to I shall
Kimimaru
You could use a bitmap splitter to split up your big tilesheet. Try using the attached file.
semlemsushi
Ah thank you, but I have just located a better one produced by the one who created Origins XD
Murdoc
Don't use origins unless you can program well. ;)
Mulkaar
@RPG_freak:> Don't use origins unless you can program well. ;)Not true at all, Origins already has many major features which with Stable you'd have to struggle to implement, with scripting and coding it makes the game not only slower, but much clunkier to edit,Plus with about ten tutorials popping up everyday for Origins as long as you grab a copy of VB6.0 then the world is your oyster for creating your adventure. samih1996
I think that you shouldn't use Origins because of the following reasons:-You have no scripting options-You can't have every single file in a spread sheet they need to be individual.-You have to make your own everything and use visual basic to make a good game. But its your choice I think you should use stables. Like I said its your choice.
Robin
Hurr durr. "Origins is bad because you actually have to make your own game."Morons.

Like I said its your choice.Just ignore every thing this idiot said.- You will get more out of Origins-Our best programmer Robin took out all the bull crap systems enhanced and poorly made by EE.- Origins is the best engine to study and learn from if you want to learn how to program.-Saves MB from the tile sheet/ sprite sheet.Just look at the opposite said above and you will find ES not the best engine to make a game out of :azn:. Robin
@shadowchris-Anti:> -Our best programmer Robin took out all the bull crap systems enhanced and poorly made by EE.I didn't take them out, they just never existed. Origins isn't related to any previous version of Eclipse.
DarkSpine
Origins-More pre-made features, faster, better systems, etc.Stable-More glitches, slower (Partially because of scripting), worse systems, etc. Decent to start with, but not good for actually making a game.@GM:> I think that you shouldn't use Origins because of the following reasons:> > -You have no scripting options> -You can't have every single file in a spread sheet they need to be individual.> -You have to make your own everything and use visual basic to make a good game.> > But its your choice I think you should use stables. Like I said its your choice.Scripting-Slows everything down, and really isn't that great.-Spreadsheets are bigger, and more annoying to edit…Individual sprites and such is much smarter, as it's easier to edit, and you don't have a huge image to deal with.-If you don't use visual basic to edit Eclipse's source, your game won't be good anyways.@RPGfreak:> Don't use origins unless you can program well. ;)If you can't program, or can't find someone to program for you, it doesn't matter what engine you use, your game is not going to be good. What you SHOULD use:OriginsWhat you COULD but SHOULDN'T use:StableIf you've already decided…Well, good luck with your game.~Urame
samih1996
I know that origins is good but you have to do everything yourself plus i can't add scripts
Lavos
It does not matter which is better. You should just try both of them out to see for yourself! On my opinion i KNOW is that there BOTH good engines. It just all depends on your knowledge.

Robin
-shrug- You don't need to know how to program to use Origins, you just need to be able to use the basics of VB6\. ie, compiling, searching & replacing things, adding tutorials…Look at Ambard. He can't program for the life of him, but he's done more with Origins than anyone has.
NullSkillVoid
But for origins, you need a vb6 compiler, which I have not been able to find.
