There is something wrong with this

Why does this cat look bad, help me out here before I get to shading and such.

Also, It seems to be leaning forward, as if It is going to pounce. Maybe the hind legs are too high? Not sure.

Yes, that's what happens when you're sideways.

Yes but looking at things Side on doesn't just give you oine side. You can usually see a little of the other objects features. A sillouhette of the other legs would still be visible.

Yet your ears are both easily seen. You're looking slightly from the front, not perfectly to the side. That's why it looks weird. Remove the ear on the right and it'll look better but incredibly 2D.

Ok I found your problem (I think), It's a side view right? well If you only want 2 legs showing then you have to get rid of the back ear. Here's an example:


I also took out the line between the body and the tail.

You're getting closer. Move that 2nd back leg a bit more back, so it's only one or two pixels ahead of the leg that's outward.

in my opinion, kitty's body is angled while the head is pointed directly straight. With the way you drew the lines, kitty's body will appear like he's iso…

I redid kitty's head. I didn't feel like redrawing it so I just made it bigger until it fit kitty's body. Lol hence the enormous line thickness.

Well, cats' heads are generally small. Even the one I have there is massive compared to a real cat's anatomy. Plus I really don't think that, with the others, your style would fit among all mine, but I like how you drew it, so I'm going to try making it small (and fixing the lines) with the same style.

Slightly longer body, arch the back more, make the belly less fatass, change position of front legs… (not straight, would look better to have them a bit  bent if that's the correct word). With this over dramatic chest exposing pose it looks more like a puppy.

I like it, my only suggestion is to maybe make more highlights on the "front" legs so they are more prominent than the back legs (on normal scale the legs sort of blend together).
