Sockets are still sockets no matter what language you're using. You're sending packets of data. It's not special vb6 data, it's just raw data.Same with being able to load the game data with any language. Raw data isn't restricted by language. Harris6310
Is it slow? I heard Java is very slow due to the VM.
Robin
@Harris:> Is it slow? I heard Java is very slow due to the VM.Then apparently you've been reading up opinions of people who seem to be living pre-1996\. *cough*jit*cough*I find it hard to believe that people remember some of the most obscure computer related changes around yet seem to completely block out a rather important language speed change.Java is just as fast as C++. Will this have png (and therefore transparency) support?- free version uses java2d; considered making a "premium" version using jogl- pngs, tiff, gif, jpeg, bmp, etc. Supports A8R8G8B8
Sealbreaker
nice to hear that! Using java2d atm by myself and i think it supports everything such an engine needs… what does jogl support what java2d doesnt? More image manipulation i guess??Anyways, nice to see an engine being programmed in a language that is not that... dead.-seal
