Tileset for my game. (Need Feedback) "First Item Paperdoll"

I'm still gonna take in what everyone said before, I just wanted to post my whole map and see what people thought about the layout and where its going.. Note I still have tons of more detail to add with different trees, bushes, and different types of grass. This is JUST all I have made so far.

I think I just about have the brix fixed where they look normal. @ Anna I thought my perspective on most things is the same. What is different? I'm trying to learn :P

But aside from all that could someone tell me how to get this teepee to look not so flat? I wanted it to look more round but I have no idea how and literally messed around with it for over 3 hours today and keep coming up with nothing..

lol I know how to use shading, thats not the problem. I've tried a few different types of shading but it still won't come out right… I went dark grey on the outside and went lighter and lighter grey going in until it was white but it still looked odd.

Hue shift definition - "Color change due to the unequal fade rate of one or more mixed colorants (eg, yellow and cyan dyes mixed to make green) resulting in a shift from the original color toward the more stable of the colorants used in the original mixture."

I'm not sure what to do since I'm using white. I'm still looking up more stuff tho about hue shifting and making objects look less flat. Do I need to dither?

Also just added my first shop layout.

This is the bank I think I'm going to put it in. Havent shaded it yet. Going to repost tom once I shade. Just want to know how the overall outline looks.

Heres something I made a while back to show what Hue shifting is.

For Hue Shifting, its bad to stay in one hue and then just go up lighter shades of the same exact color. Whats good is to shift the hue as well as the shade. It creates a better feel of the art.

And remember. No pure shades of grey. thats a no no.

Thats pretty much what I figured out and from your graph I've been eww'ing it up lol. Guess I better redo all them now before its to late. You think I need to find a pallet to go by for hue shifting seeing as I have no idea how the colors schemes work.. I'm gonna google one now.

Thnx sir, I think the outside should be better once I revamp them. I am working on the wall right now. I used all Grey so I'm switching it first to a different color and fixing the brick pattern. I honestly had no idea what hue shading was until Chief told me. :P

Was trying to make items a while today but after about 4 or so I didn't like the way they were coming out. So I made my first main non NPC sprite. Here is the front view.

If you're going with the plain flat tiles, these NPC sprites would work best, however, if you're going to end up putting more detail and shading into the tiles (like you have for a few of the indoor tilesets) you'll want to reconsider having the basic flat NPC sprite characters. The only other flw I see with your characters is that their skin is a tad too yellow for a skin base colour (thoughhaving yellow-ish highlights is not a bad idea). For the skin you may want to lean more towards a light orange-red (peach?) with muted reddish colours for the shading. This will give them a more flesh-like appearance. I'm sure you can find some skin colour pallettes online as well.

^ So I have a bad sprite perspective or they just look to flat? How would you recommended, how to go about making them look less flat? I've done a pretty decent amount of shading to them and I thought they matched the perspective most of my other GFX did.. I want a very cartooned feel to the game.

They look flat, to me, and obviously to others as well. It is difficult to tell that they have been shaded at all!

Here's an example of an extremely cartoony graphick with seomwhat more proper shading:

Mind you it isn't my best because I made it in a minute or so…but this shows some good pallette for shades and for skin, with very simple basic pallete.

I didn't say it wasn't flat at all. I asked what exactly was wrong. I'm trying to shade the best I can with making my own pallet. Here is a pic of the motha in game. :P

I have to agree with this, after looking at the screenshot. You may want to sprite teh characters from a slightly overhead perspective. Only slightly, to match your tileset.
