mrmiguu
Very interesting. Can't argue with this logic.I like the wording "added bonuses."

Anna Comnena
Top left problems are arguably less; but for the species it's worse. Humanity is at a point where we as sapient individuals can throw off the mantle of governance; column "Yes" will maintain this slavery forever. The catastrophe in column "No" is essentially armageddon; but what humanity will survive after that will have a chance to truly prosper (if enough of it survives of course). mrmiguu
That brings up an interesting point, Anna. The question is: do we want to risk it all to break free from the shackles government holds on us?
Anna Comnena
@MrMiguu:> That brings up an interesting point, Anna. The question is: do we want to risk it all to break free from the shackles government holds on us?Well events of that scope are out of our hands regardless of desires. But no. Often in such extreme circumstances small surviving groups have to resort to severe measures as a survival mechanism; it would be likely that a lot of cultural thought and education would be lost and remaining groups would be isolated, insular, and most likely regressive. There are many different factors about this subject in general, but it's a bit off-topic with regards to GCC. SawQuart
@MrMiguu:> That brings up an interesting point, Anna. The question is: do we want to risk it all to break free from the shackles government holds on us?Humanity has been faced with this question endlessly. To take Anna's point literally, the Southern American slaves during the 1800s that tried to escape faced the same decision. In the end, they ended up free and with rights (note how long it took them though).I made a revised chart using MS Paint (sorry about the quality!):[![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/4be9761b5c1315fe82d8d28fdbb97b5c.PNG)](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/#4be9761b5c1315fe82d8d28fdbb97b5c.PNG)As you can see (or not), the more power the gov't has, the more painful the transition (aka Revolt) is. In my chart, you can see that the "yes" column, or the "follow gov't" column, is highly less desirable. Whichever path you choose, there will be negatives since humanity still cannot clearly define a utopian-like government. Most of us believe that the utopian gov't falls in between comfort and protection (a balance of the two). If you value comfort, you are socialistic, communist, liberal, and/or left wing. If you value more protection you value monarchy and are right wing. Both wings can lead to a corrupt government, as you can seeThe more gov't we have, the more painful the rebellion becomes once one is necessary. The build up of laws creates muck, and slowly clogs the arteries of our gov't (but very slowly). Unfortunately, the comforts our gov't gives us comes slowly too. This means that we become comfortable with our government just as it becomes more defective. Here is visual representation of this:[![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/ae9cc0a64385c26473ee3085f33f57d1.PNG)](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/#ae9cc0a64385c26473ee3085f33f57d1.PNG)How does this relate to the video? The man suggests that adding new laws/regulations to the government will help it, my charts suggest otherwise. By giving the government the power to regulate you, are you really going towards protection, or rather straight towards the corrupt gov't, overflowed with unnecessary regulations?tl:dr New, fresh governments are the only things that can work to please the people. Old governments overflowed with policies, laws, and unnecessary regulations will crumble (look at Soviet Russia, the revolutions of the 19th century, etc). In the end, its not whether we reach the horrible disaster described in the video, but rather if the government can actually, functionally monitor us to the extent that we, ourselves, stop global warming.I'm obviously taking the stance of a libertarian, but feel free to differ. I love to hear opposition.

Egon
I'm pretty sure that A is just as bad as B. A GLOBAL depression that makes the 30s look like a cake walk?Everything in B will happen in A then. We're still screwed with either one we pick.
