SkywardRiver
Hey guys. I'm thinking about making a pet arena map attribute but before I do I would like to know if it would just be a huge waste of time. Would anyone use it if I posted a tutorial on how to do it? Please, let me hear your thoughts on this. I'm curious.
Urumil
I'd use it.

SkywardRiver
I would be using Lightnings/Nialls pet system

saadhamza
I think that would be cool! Not that i could use it, since i don't develop games, but i really like the idea.
Yxxe
I think if I were to do something like that then I would write some nice AI to keep watching the battles interesting, such as AI which works together, or more tactically. I don't know about anyone else, but NPC's always going for the brute-force approach gets boring very quickly.

shwamshwam1
@Justn:> Yes would get boring quickly… Unless maybe it was just for some small rooster fighting gambling thing :/Maybe like after few "rounds" or minutes bets (of the currency of the game) could be placed on a certain pet of team of pets. Like… your own little personal Rooster has to take 3 of 5 Shrines in a specific area to win a round? Or just Catch a specific piece of whatever?Maybe you could add advanced areas with lava, earthquakes or your players could summone little NPCs to help your Rooster or could activate specific effects to harm the opponent?wubwubwub. :D
Me Gusta
I agree with Niall it would be dull just to see them rush at each other then sit there going. "Bam I hit you" it would be interesting if they used spells and tried to run away and such. Or you could make the players take control once summoned which sounds like a lame way of doing it. SkywardRiver
WHOH guys. What you are talking about is way more complicated than what I had in mind. I'm not Niall. I'm just a beginning coder. A novice. So….. yeah

Me Gusta
After using my idea if you do. I would try making backups then toying with the code to see if you can get them to be themselfs and have a smart AI.

saadhamza
Hmm, how about you let Jaxx make the base arena, and then everyone that has another idea can just add more to it and put it into there game :P No reason to ask him to do all of your work ;)
SkywardRiver
I like that idea :D
RyokuHasu
Rather than a tile type, use a map moral. Its what I used to make pet arenas in HOA. It only requires an slight extra addition of The pet rules of engagement I made to get it working in a basic way.
SkywardRiver
That's sounds great! Would it be easier to assign a variable when the map moral is pet arena then just make a few tweaks to your combat system, or is there a better way? RyokuHasu
In my opinion yes it would be easier. than making a tile and checking for it, people are always so quick to make a new tile for new kinds of maps, but a new map moral and combat checks is faster and easier =D
