bluefroggy09
Do you mean to edit the actual image you see, or the file extension? (example: BMP to PNG)
Matt
You mean to turn an image into a different format? Or allow Eclipse, for example, to read both Bmps and Pngs?
LukBrave
I mean turn the image eclipse gets to like… lets sayyy i want it to be a JPEG (which i dont) buts its a BMP, how do you change that?
bluefroggy09
Open the BMP in an image editing program (like PS, or GIMP) then save as and change the format. You can also download tons of free converters (just Google.)
LukBrave
on vb6 change the file from bmp to some other file (ex: .tif) would you look in modgeneral or modhandledata or like what?
Matt
O.O VB6 is not needed for this. Assuming you have the most basic program for image making, open your image using Paint. Then follow this picture.![](http://i46.tinypic.com/nyh27p.png)
LukBrave
but then i get an error because eclipse doesn't support that file
Matt
What files are you changing? Items? Paperdolls? Tilesets?
bluefroggy09
@LukBrave:> but then i get an error because eclipse doesn't support that fileEclipse reads BMP images. You an convert any other format of image to BMP. In fact, that's the easiest way to have Eclipse read your images. To convert them, use an image manipulator. bluefroggy09
People can edit your images, get over it.If you're that worried, put a splash image over it.
LukBrave
Ya but you can edit it on vb6… ill look for it myself...
Matt
People will have access to your graphics. Someone on the forums (I think it was Lumiere) made a tutorial to ensure that people can't steal your graphics. I don't know what a splash image is, but don't change the image itself because it would ruin the graphics.Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post. :(
Likestodraw
Apparently there is some way that you can have them un-editable, but it is supposedly really hard, and just something that isn't worth your time. I also think there's some way to put a password on certain files in a .zip file, but I'm not certain.
jcsnider
Ok, so lets say that you get what you want… you protect your sprite file (which is incredibly hard BTW). Anyone with little effort can simply take a screenshot of your game and steal the graphics from that. So is it really worth the protection and effort? arronlee
I have noticed that many people advised you to convert PNG to other formats with the help of some 3rd party tools. As for me, I have tried to convert[word to png](http://www.rasteredge.com/how-to/csharp-imaging/word-convert-png/) with the help of the free trial package of a fine imaging tool. And I have to admit that choosing a fine tool is so important because only the one whose way of processing is simple and fast can make the work much more convenient to operate. Checking its free trial package according to its tutorials about how to convert document and image is also very neccesary. I hope you success. Good luck.Best regards,Arron
