  1. What an amateur video. That overused musical track, the lame wipes, and text. If he spent half the time wasted on the video and spent it mapping, the game wouldn't look like typical mirage-based mmo crap we've seen for years now. Also why is this in Debate? Moving to ChitChat.
  2. I wasn't that big a fan of the N64, to be honest. That era I thought they were focusing way too much on the infantile 3D industry at the time, which greatly limited the system's game library (something that made the SNES so great). Early console FPS weren't that great, and the rest were generally mediocre racing or flying games of some type. I liked the usual "classics", Goldeneye64 was pretty fun, and Star Fox, Mario Kart, and F-Zero. Except for the Zelda games, adventure and RPG games weren't really present (something that the SNES excelled in). Although the PSX turned out to be more versatile with it's library, I wasn't too big on that system either (I don't like fragile, slow-loading CDs). In my opinion video game consoles started to die after the SNES / Genesis era; since then they've basically been crappy wannabe PCs.
  3. @Egon: > Yeah. Only reason why I didn't use real garlic is because I couldn't use a head fast enough. I should have also used some chives on top. >can't use a single head of garlic in a month >claims to cook I am disappoint
  4. Is it like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZexg8sxyk
  5. Yeah when I first saw a TV commercial for "My Clean PC" I knew it was full of shit. More like "We Sell You Malware Only We Can Solve dot com".
  6. Yeah looks pretty good. Only thing is you need more actual garlic. Nothing better than little slices of garlic hidden in your bread.
  7. 1\. Get rid of the black rocks and plants, they contrast way too much (enough to even see them from the thumbnail) 2\. With small details, usually never have similar or the same tiles in a straight line; you've done well enough so that the same detail isn't in a line, but you have some similar details that still line up, and otherwise heavy lines of detail 3\. Use less of the tall grass. Tall grass looks good to add area detail (more than a single tile), but when it's used too much, it is one of the most repetitive tiles in RMXP. 4\. Also basic grass layout, you should have the grass recede near the building foundation Overall it's not that bad, really. The main problem in my opinion is the lack of a design. What is that area supposed to be? What does this local environment mean for the player in it? It's just a building framing the northwest side, and then random emptyness.
  8. Yeah, because systematic planned violence is the solution for violent behavior…
  9. I liked it, great story and atmosphere. I stopped playing at one point when the AI was obviously cheating and didn't get back into it. I should.
  10. Looking at the girls; >Nora >white
  11. You can just program it; but builidng an editor for it might help you out later, and would allow you to recruit a mapper for it as well (so they don't need to dig into the full code just to develop the gameworld). As far as world design, usually good design for a single player game is much different from good design in a multiplayer game. Unless the multiplayer game is designed for cooperative story-based play, the gameworld design will be completely different; multiplayer games need much more freedom of movement because the player actions are more open than being controlled by the game narrative.
  12. SHED.MOV is the best HEY HEY HEY STAY OUTTA MAH SHED
  13. @renzo: > Lefse and riskrem. You're a norski? Also what about krumkake? Edit: oh yeah Kinder Eggs are ridiculously overrated. Chocolate is bland and oversweetened.
  14. @i: > anna they do to. Budwiser is the king of beers and Bud Light Platinum is the Premium of light beers. Most microbrews > anything German > Coors > PBR > Bud

  16. "Premium" and "Bud" do not go together if in the beer industry.
  17. xD I like them, but what about coloring? Drawing by hand in pencil doesn't necessarily mean the same quality in pixel art (nor the same production effort, you might not be able to handle pumping out as many colored pixel-art portraits as demand warrants).
  18. "Rock Band" More recent than Iron Maiden I don't care.
  19. The whole point is "nice 3d graphics" is ducking irrelevant regarding a hex-based tactical scale turn based strategy game. It's not gonna improve the gameplay at all, and it will most likely damage the gameplay in the long run as the game will become more simplified and condensed to account for the additional media resources (and maybe more versatile marketing potential).
  20. Fucking kids these days. You know games that primarily focus on graphics are what is killing the video games industry? Increased production costs for pretty games are an investment that makes those with capital want to go lowest-risk possible, and so that's why games get prettier but they turn into the same generic crap that has been successful in the past. Gameplay > graphics Anyway, that being said, I don't know of too many games like Battle for Wesnoth. Atleast none that have the depth of strategy at the individual unit level, with the amount of variables BfW has, but it still somehow remains simple and easy enough to play and get into. I suppose there are a few Hex-Based turn based strategy games out there, as that game model is essentially carried over from the board game days. Making them 3D isn't that big of an issue. An actual 3D game that has similar individual character/unit tactical consideration, though, might be Myth: The Fallen Lords and it's series. It's real-time, though, and the graphics are dated. But it is in 3D, is heavily based on individual unit management and tactical considerations (mainly health, attack style, facing, and elevation).

    Japan empty

Yeah, Fukushima is relatively minor. The main issue was it's backup generators got flooded out. Beyond that it wasn't that much of a disaster, really. Just adding that on top of the quake and tsunami was like that region of Japan being kicked while it was down.
