  1. The thing they don't tell you is those little tech "institutes" are big fancy loans you'll pay off forever too. My suggestion on purely an economic level is to start small, go into city or community colleges, and try to work if you can find a decent enough job. This should help you pay for school without having to resort to taking out loans, if your economic needs make this feasible at all. One downside to this is it is not as time-efficient for the results; around 2 years and you'll only have an associate level degree if anything. Tech schools are the best bet for time involved, since they are usually track programs (whereas a college is more loose). However since they are track programs at tech schools, you have to commit to the whole program. Going to state and local colleges can be cheaper in the long run if you manage it right, and take advantage of any grants and other payment options; but it's more of an investment of time. If you know what you want to do and there is a decent institute for it (with a decent job placement rate), then go with them; you might have a better chance at a career in less time, but you'll have student loan debt (although maybe not as much as a big university).

  4. Pink is a good Peep color I guess, but weren't they classically yellow? They were basically marshmallow baby chicks.

  6. What's with all the Mode7 haters? Mode7 is delicious nostalgia. ![:lol:](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//laugh.png) I like it, but to be honest there is nothing about Mode7 that is "HD" in any shape or form. People need to stop placing the "HD" label on everything nowadays.
  7. > When's the last time you saw an eclipse title using RMXP graphics that had maps this nice? Any Eclipse game I mapped for. ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//wink.png) > When I see bad mapping being done with RM graphics I think what's the excuse? There is plenty to work with. It just needs to be used properly. This is the truth.
  8. What's he doing in the top row second from right?
  9. Yeah I was thinking about going along with it but after 4 minutes on the phone listening to the exact same thing ("I am a engineer trust me" in a thick Indian accent) I was getting poonbox whipped of it. @Budweiser: hur dur it was my parent's ancient landline. We don't even have caller ID on it. Not that it matters because we maybe get 1 or 2 calls an entire day; and the majority of the calls are to confirm appointments or prescriptions (given that my parents are both retirement age).
  10. So anyway I got this wierd phone call a few days ago, some guy with a heavy Indian accent whom assured me he was a Microsoft Certified Engineer (big whoop), was informing me that a "genuine microsoft product" was sending error codes which were vital and that I had to resolve the problem. Anyway he went on for a good three straight minutes assuring me he was an MCE and so what he said was legit (which was a red flag for me). I kept trying to ask which product in particular (without giving away any details or what products and OS we had or use) for him to specify; he would say "any genuine microsoft device". He was asking me to go to a computer and follow instructions (which he wouldn't specify as yet). I had the feeling it was a scam to get me to enable some vulnurability inherent in winblows. I understand there is a limitation on what information legitimate diagnostic messages send, but the fact he couldn't even specify a product annoyed me. I hung up when he insisted I go to a computer without him specifying a product, and then he called back right after asking why I hung up and I told him he was a scam and to not call here again (I report u huehuehue) But yeah anyone else have heard of any scams or stuff like this?

    C++

    Well considering every computer has NOTEPAD or an equivalent text editor, and there have been freely accessible C++ compilers availible for some time now (on multiple platforms), it is a much easier language in an accessibility sense. With VB6, it was defacto abandonware but it wasn't officially so it wasn't necessarily the easiest language to get into if you wanted to be legitimate, and it required proprietary software to be produced as well.
  12. Yeah it's fine as a style choice, but the perspective is inconsistant. It would look fine the same style but avoiding display of the north (or up) facing roof slope; the perspective would be consistant and the style remain the same. With the plants it wasn't so much the yellow part, but it was the lack of contrast in the green part; the edges of the plant were not that distinct from the cobblestone ground; but if the graphics are gonna be zoomed in and blown up the subdued colors and contrast will probably be better. The only problem is if there will be a finished playable game that doesn't get canned by some company! ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//wink.png)
  13. Why are your colors always so subdued? For example, the yellowish plants, it is hard to pick them out completely from the cobblestone ground. Also your stone paths aren't tiled well (the horizontal line; if you want to do actual slabs that is fine but it otherwise looks relatively smooth except for the horizontal line that appears in regular intervals). I like the general design of the houses, but the north facing roof slope shouldn't be drawn in that perspective; it makes the some walls look stunted and the roof uneven. Grass is top notch, the dirt looks interesting although I don't see enough to have a full opinion on it; the interior floors are good and the detail objects are all nicely designed.
  14. ![](http://www.speedtest.net/result/2180276713.png) Edit: Oh wow @ the Google ISP speeds. Although it's too bad it's a giant data mining operation. Not to mention it's in Palo Alto area; I'd be surprised if park outhouses weren't wired with fiber trunk lines already. Also @ Jungle, of course telecom lines going into the capital city of the most powerful nation currently on the planet is going to have better service than lines going to some city nobody outside the region has ever heard of. Duh.
  15. So gonna try to score with busty wenches wearing elf ears?

  20. This doesn't belong in debate; it's subjective aesthetics. The only technical consideration here is what tileset would provide you with the most usable resources. RMXP graphics have tons more stuff because they've been around long and have generally had more contributors working on that style over time. But if you've found RMVX tiles they can generally be just as useful as RMXP if that is the aesthetic you want. The primary difference between them is VX graphics are generally more scaled to small player sprites (32x32 pixel sized). As long as you remain consistant either aesthetic is fine. Moved to General Eclipse discussion forum.

  22. Damnit Lenton. I was browsing this thread and I thought Grayfox came back; then I was noticing all the old old old OLD names and was wondering what was going on… then I saw the timestamps. ![-_-](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//sleep.png) ... 24. Is it a portable USB drive? Unless you have some ancient computer, it should generally be plug-and-play. If it's set up as your "F:\" drive, then you should be able to use it as another hard drive; reference commands to it and browse its directories. One thing you might need to check is what sandisk stuff is on it by default, that may take up some space. Usually I'm very old school with my directories structure and like to keep my directory trees simple and clean (makes them easier to back up if need be). What do you need to use it for? I've found those are usually good for moving files, storing school projects, and things like that. I don't see what or why you would be asking help about?
