Lenton
If you use brighter colours then they would look alot more cartoony but there ok. =)
The Oracle
yea. they look WAY to dark. use something a little bit brighter.

The Oracle
yes. use the palette from the space gun thingy for it to be a bit 'brighter'
bambam
ok, so about the quality, i didnt realise bmp would ruin it so much, ok, ill work on new ones.

Robin
Don't pixel on a black background. Doing so gives it a sense of 'outline' that is removed when you actually run it in the engine.Create it on a light grey background for a good balance between light and dark. janpk
why should they get an outline, my items are on black background and theres no outline…
Robin
Read my post. I said there wasn't an outline, the background colour gives the illusion of one that is removed when the black is used as the mask.
bambam
oh, there was an outline, but i dont no if u can see it, coz the bmp mucked up the quality on it, so are u saying outlines r bad?
Robin
It's not a .bmp file, it's .jpg.And stop acting retarded. I'm saying pixel on a light-grey background instead of black. It's not hard to read ;D

bambam
ok first of all i no im retarded, but im still a bit confused, a light grey background would be bad because then when u play a game with it, a massive box would appear around the item. DrNova
Not if your first top-left pixel was also gray.BG color doesnt HAVE to be black, its whatever that first pixel color is.I use pink as my BG color usually, lotts tiles, items, ect, have black in them, this prevents it from being made transparent and screwing the pic up in game

Dark Crusade
Those tiles, especially the 'blue sword special' would be horribly messed in your game when they are dropped on the ground. This is assuming the quality is not lost from JPEG the way it is in this topic. If its the same in your game, then the sprites will be messed all together. bambam
yea yea, im gonna find a way to make it that it can accept .png files, i like the way they keep the quality, i might look at some tutorials if there are any to do that. oh and thanks for that tip Dr.Nova, i always thought it was a set colour that was transparent, so your saying as long as i put pink as the bg colour before i use a different pixel, that will stay transparent?
