Jarmendes
So…are they? With all these new 3d games coming out youve got to wonder how long these games will be around for.

Bobbus
Some people still prefer a 2d game over a 3d game, so.Plus some people's computers might not be able to handle a big game, like WoW or silkroad. So they might technically be forced to play a 2d cuz its all that their computer would let them play.
Jarmendes
Sigh…but the majority of the gamers who's computers cant play big 3d games dont like 2d games.
Bobbus
Just giving an example. There are still plenty of people out there who would love to play 2d mmo's.
ENIGMAX
2D games will always be in demand… and those who think diffrent shall live a life of pixalated pot smoking
anasky
Well, not for me.People prefer 3d games most of the time, but I haven't played 1 3d game which I actually liked for more then a week.Just give me the good 2d games like Maplestory, Poxnora and Eclipse :D.* * *Anasky
unnown
what about runescape before it improved (that was modeled 2d)
Rogue
i love 3-d games but i dont have the money resources for effort to make a 3-D game even though i own both Realm Crafter and Torque i still prefer using RMXP and eclipseand runescape just sucks ass
DrNova
I dont think 2d games are dying, at least not yet.For example look at MapleStory, and something rush I think, both 2D and doing very well for themselves. Not to mention the continued interest in old games via emulator.Eventually 2d will die off, but it will be a long while I think. There is an appeal that a 2d game gives that is hard to explain, but they are just fun

Bobbus
yeah, 2d games give something 3d games cant. I cant really describe it. But then again, i say the same thing for 3d games. Personally, i play both. And love both types.
Robin
Runescape was _amazing_ back in the good ol' days. Now it's dead. Whenever I log on, it's just filled with a few bots xD No one plays Classic anymore ;-;![](http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e112/Kite_Minase/wc.png)
The Oracle
don't you have to be a member or something to play classic?
FrogImmortal
2D MMORPGs are dying, sure, but it's doing fine if not gaining ground in other genres.
Reguba
Well, I don't honestly know if I would say 2d games are dying. There are lots of games that stick with the 2.5D graphics which imo are still 2d. 2d games, I don't think will ever be gone for good.
Jarmendes
Like DrNova I think that 2d games will eventually die off. But not for a while. For some weird reason they are just more fun than 3d. Maybe because 3d games go too far into reality?
DrNova
I hate when they ruin classics that are way fun to play as 2d, but then go 3-d and you just dont get the same enjoyment from it.Mario I think is one of the very few that transitioned to 3d pretty well, though I still play SM2-3 on my emulator from time to time. The megaman series and metroid as well.I also have an NES classic called Swords and Serpents, such a fun game
Jarmendes
Anybody know the Metal Slug series? They put it into 3d…It's really gay and they ruined it. I just loved to run in and shoot the hell out of the cartoon guys but now its too hard lol.
Guest
well lol. hopefully eclispe will change this. lol i think 3d games are complicated. but 2d, man that's what games should be. Game's don't need to be realistic. It only matters to the people who truly want it to be realistic. They just want to pretend to be the player. And that's not what games are for. They are for haveing fun with friends, or just playing, not for pretending.
