I can't really say anything about the sprite, it's a whole nother style than anything i've done.For the armor, it looks like it's just gradient shaded from the top left to the bottom right. Try putting actual parts of armor in. I.e. shade the shoulder pads, then put a dark line under them and shade the chest plate.For the shroom.......................... wtf. lol.
