[Darksunight Productions' Tutorials - Getting Started with DP's Server Hosting](http://mbo.no-ip.info)
Topic: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,43711.msg440061.html

First to answer a few questions:
–----------------------------------------------------------------
1Q: What is a server hosting? I never heard that before, just 'dedicated servers'.
1A: Well, that's to be expected, this is the first and currently only 'Server Hosting' in the world! This does exactly what it says, it host servers. But there is a big difference on 'dedicated servers' and 'server hosting'.

2Q: What's the difference between 'Dedicated Servers' and DP's 'Server Hosting'?
2A: Well, other than the price (Dedicated Servers = pay | DP's Server Hosting = Free), 'dedicated servers', you just give your server to the 'admin' and he manually turns it ON/OFF or any other configuration must also be requested and might take some time before the 'admin' does something about it. Not DP's 'Server Hosting', you can upload your updates at any time, turn ON/OFF the server at will plus you get much more features that you are asking for.

3Q: What's the semblance 'Dedicated Servers' and DP's 'Server Hosting' have?
3A: The only thing that both of them have in similar are:
------ They host servers
------ They host 24/7

4Q: What type of 'Servers' does it support?
4A: Any 'server' that runs from a single '.exe', doesn't matter how much configuration it has. Some examples of a server that we support: 'Eclipse' (All versions currently distributed [[color=red]Not tested with SE1.0]), 'Counter Strike: Source Dedicated Server', 'Ventrilo', etc…

5Q: Is this free?
5A: Yes, as mentioned on '2A'. All Darksunlight Productions' features are free.

6Q: I registered, why ain't I getting any mail? It said 'Message Delivery Failed'.
6Q: For some unknown reason, that code fails sometimes, to request another 'Activation Mail', click on 'Forgot password?' over the login menu, and on the page you were redirected, fill up the 2nd form, there are just 2 text box fields there, 'Username' and 'Email'.

7Q: Can I pay for extra 'features'?
7A: I do all for free, if you want an extra feature or just want to upgrade something or have an idea, just PM me or post on the forums.

8Q: Can I donate? You made such a good job!
8A: Appreciated, but no thanks.

9Q: I changed it to turn it ON/OFF, why does still have OFFLINE/ONLINE status?
9A: Like I explained on other topics, this current test alpha, every time the minutes in the server has 0/5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50/55, it update your 'server commands', on the 'server settings' page you will see as 'current command'. Later I will make it 'automatic as in instantaneously.
–----------------------------------------------------------------

Now starting with the tutorial:

1\. Step - Registration and Activation

Go to Darksunlight Productions' Home Page and register by filling up the form with the necessary information and accepting the 'Terms of Service' [Terms of Use] (http://mbo.no-ip.info/). After you have registered, go to your mail and check both junk mail and normal mail for the 'activation mail', and click the link.

3\. Step - Sorting your files correctly before uploading

1\. Place a copy of your servers folder on your desktop.
![](http://mbo.no-ip.info/uploaded_images/Server Hosting Tutorial - 3.1.jpg)
2\. Remove The servers' 'executable file' (.exe) and place it directly on the 'Desktop'.
![](http://mbo.no-ip.info/uploaded_images/Server Hosting Tutorial - 3.2.jpg)
3\. Create an 'achieve' file (.zip) on your desktop [[color=red]not '.rar'].
![](http://mbo.no-ip.info/uploaded_images/Server Hosting Tutorial - 3.3.jpg)
4\. Place the files of the server on the 'achieve' file. The files **IN** the folder, **not the whole folder**. Or when you extract, it will extract with the folder at the top, and we don't want that, we want the files that are **in** the folder.

2\. Now click on the 'browse' on the 'Multi-Uploader' and select your 'achieve (.zip)
3\. Than after its uploaded, click on the icon beside the 'trash can' to extract the 'achieve (.zip)
4.  (Optional) Delete the 'achieve' by clicking on the 'trash can'.

6\. Step - Done - Awaits for Approval

You are not necessary to do anything anymore, but is recommended to PM me, or post on the forum for a request for approval. If you Don't request for an approval, it might take a bit longer to get. Approval can take up to 7-10 hours, but usually it is pretty fast.

@kokorecxd:

> i am uploaded my server.name Kokorec more info?

You need to extract, like it was mentioned on the tutorial. (Step 5)

@Crimson:

> Doesn't this leave the server open for attack. I can't begin to count all the things you can do with .exes.

I know the risks. Therefor there is a 'verification…
@Crimson:

> And if the servers are shared that could be devastating for business.

Not sure what you mean by that.
@Crimson:

> Still, it's pretty friken epic!

Thanks, there was a lot of hard work in there :)

I just went to verify it, you placed it wrong on the 'achieve'. Check Step 3 part 4\. But I will fix it for you. But there was one with a big red 'X' saying it was wrong and one with the 'OK'.
–-
Edit:
Verified. You may use it at will, have fun :), remember that it updates every 5 mins on my server. Every time the minutes in the server has 0/5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50/55, it update your 'server commands', on the 'server settings' page you will see as 'current command'. Good luck :)
