Reworking Old Viking's Tiles

starting to slowly rework my old tiles. just threw what i have together into a quick map. and when I say slowly i mean slowly lol. this is from 1 week -.- feels like i'm getting nowhere.

i honestly like the old ones because they gave me more of a primal feel which i liked
a more dark medievel feel

Well I could take saturation out and darken everything no problem. But I feel like the old ones were horrible pixel art haha

I remember those tiles! You had some neat armor sets too… like metnionned above, the new tiles give more a happy feeling (like the breeze tileset). Darker colors will do wonders.

Put up a quick saturation/brightness edit. Like something like that better?

also, I'm not sure i'm content with the water. I want to try and go for something like this guy did
granted I'm not willing to put that amount of effort into the water animation, i still would like that look better.

I like the bright tiles better. The dark makes it look, umm, dull. Either way you decide to go though they are not bad.

This isn't still for "Vikings" is it? I guess if it's about Varangians then the tiles work… they are pretty light, and the building style looks more mediteranean.

Yeah that building is not for vikings, that's just the full image of the water i want to try and mimic.

how bout them apples? done in photoshop using the contrast / brightness options, under "image"

Dude, you're an amazing pixel artist.  Just keep at it, and go for it dude.  I like the lighter ones, they have more of a.. I guess a nicer feel? I like them a lot better than the darker ones, as the darker ones look like they were put together out of boredom, and uncaringness.  But, regardless, work with the lighter ones, as it's a bit harder to create, but looks a hell of a lot nicer.  The dark ones there look like maybe night-time xD

new water. still not sure how i wanna handle the colors cus I feel like it looks decent in this image. Chief, i'm not really fond of that edit, way too much contrast for my eyes.

2 frame water looks mediocre… add more frames to its animation or slow it down some.

Lol well at the moment i'm mapping with eclipse. I do plan on making a game in flash with all these graphics but for now I'm only mapping in eclipse and I don't want to bother sourcing more frames of animation just to check out graphics.

When I get further into it i'll add more frames, hopefully.

redid the hut finally. if you don't think these new tiles are better than my old ones you should really look at the old hut and compare it to this one lol. such better pixel art. (i know the doorway is not pixel art, but oh well.)
