YESH! I think that looks more natural. If anything, change the greenery. Not sure if all those plants would survive in a location so close to the beach. Haha. I would save those "puurty" flowers for a meadow or field.

EDIT: From looking at the picture, IDK about the perspective of the water. If the tiles are the water coming over the sand, then the edge is fine. However, if it is the sand meeting up with the water, you need to rid the sand of the edge.

Also, I think the grass may need another shade in between what there is now and the sand. Personally, I really like your grass from the image with the trees.

The bright grass was kind of bright for me.  Also, the reason I have all the plants their is just to show you them.  In a beach, I would probably only have the pointy grass and the tall grass, no flowers.
I'm going to completely redo the water when I finally get the energy to think of a good way i could do it.

Yeah, in REAL life they're more similar than they are in this game.  But in real life, their aren't people using magic to kill demons.

I very much like the mockup, however it looks a tad too plain.

You can fix this by detailling the current tiles a bit more, and also adding shadows.

If you notice the tree does have shading on the trunk, however the shading doesn't extend to the ground. If you take a look at the RPGMXP trees, they have shadows that extend and cover the floor.

And so it is with all well drawn tiles.

EDIT:
I went back to page 2 and noticed you have detailed the trees more, very nicely done, I can see a sort of style for the game emerging from that detailling. - I still think the ground needs shadows. (:

Also replying to a comment from page one: The overgrown grass looks like a weaved basket, perhaps squash it down as was suggested on page 1.
