Signatures/Practice

Bloodmorphed
 Share

Recommended Posts

You know, I've been tired of asking for people to make my signatures, Well I'm kind of tired of it…. So I've been practicing I will list them here as I go from my first to my last, so here we go
OLD!!!!!!

>! 1\. ![](http://bpprojects-i.com/blood.jpg)
2\. ![](http://bpprojects-i.com/blood2.jpg)
(I know this one is kinda ugly)
3\. ![](http://bpprojects-i.com/crypke.jpg)
(someone requested it)
4\. ![](http://bpprojects-i.com/blood3.jpg)
(Now this one I just decided to play around with filters and renders and this is what I came up with.)
5\. ![](http://bpprojects-i.com/blood4.png)
(YES I KNOW THE TEXT IS HORRIBLE!! Its better then I thought it would be though. My MAIN focus was the right side of this signature.)
Newer Ones:

I know this one isn't all that great either

Okay this one literally took me an hour to make. Mainly because I was playing around with filters, layer properties and duplicate's under each other. If you download the PSD you'll see how cluttered it is with duplicate's. Also for the main render to be horizontally flipped. It looked empty so I just filled it up. The text is VERY hard to read but I was playing with Textured texts and thats what I came up with.

Well on this one… I'll let ya'll handle the crit on this one and tell me whats up.
PSD: I havn't decided or not to release this one on a PSD or not. This one I may keep to myself.

(I will be including a .PSD file for every other signature I do now. 1-5 will not have one of course. but 6-w/e will have them, MAINLY for criticism or if I did something you like you can look at it and find out how I did it.)

Now that I am starting up this again, Start from 6\. You can look at 1-5 hence why I kept them there. But try to go off number 6 for now, I'll keep putting up random signatures (just made for practice). Once I DO get good enough I'll end up making a request topic. Maybe anyways.

The first one works well. You're making the same mistake a lot of newbies make, and that's beveling EVERYTHING. Text looks shit if it's not properly beveled, and you should never bevel the cloud filter.

I think you'll learn alot from blending images, and using simple text styles. Try and figure out what colours work together before playing around with styles.
Not to mention, you can learn a lot from tutorials, http://photoshoptutorials.ws/

I thought doing that stuff to that cloud render was actually kinda cool, well I was just playing around on the fourth one so I didn't bother getting a decent text.

1.not horrible, but a border would be liked here and it's pretty plain.  Also the font looks really antialiased.
2.horrible.  Black to white gradients shouldn't be used like that, it's too full of contrast and looks out of place.  Use one gray to a darker gray if you want grayscale.  Also, add a border and don't do whatever you did to the text that says bloodmorphed(looks like it has a swirl or wind effect)
3.best out of these, though adding a border would help.  Also the text is hard to read, add some sort of outline to it or make it a different color.  Also, the render you resized looks bad, probably because of resizing it some way it didn't like.
4.eh, bevel destroyed it.  It is hard on the eyes because of how much beveled it is.  Text is nice though.

I made it glass filter first then that. The text I just did in a few seconds. Also in #1 I did antialias it but it didn't wanna work right :(

Oh let me make things clear, 1 and 2 were in gimp 3 and 4 were made in photoshop.

Also, #3 I just resized it when I pasted it on there. I don't know how to resize it without it making it look like shiz

Hey,

your signatures look _okay_ for a newbie. I've seen worse. But like mentioned above, do not bevel at all unless you know how to properly use it.

Always use a border to seperate your canvas with the surrounding, dynamic, environment. I suggest going over to

http://www.goodtutorials.com

to read some tutorials.

Good first run.

Well number 6.

I'm still new to it as I havn't worked with signatures for awhile. But I did find putting a border in it made it a bit more good looking and Tidy.  This text in this one in my opinion is still horrible. I need to do some text tutorials and play around with some effects and paint brushes and the such. BUT.. I still kinda this signature.

Also updating front page

EDIT: Nymber 7 added to front page.

6 actually looks decent, I would cut the height in half just showing the top half is all you need, the rest is just useless distractions.
I'm afraid 7 just doesn't really work, all the filter playing makes the background really ugly.  Again, cut the height in half, you want slim and sleek looking sigs.

The back ground is just two textures I didn't filter those, I only filtered the text and duplicate's under the main render.

UPDATE! I took a bit of everyones advice.

Taking more time on this one, cutting the size down. Followed some tuts and making them my own. Doing this, doing that. And well this is the result of your advice.

@Cpt.:

> Hardly readable text. No Border. Image looks bad for some reason.

There is a border its black. I know 100% sure there is one because its a separate layer.

I can read the text fine. I did notice the image quality is a little bad because of one of the contrast layers I put on it.

OKay so here is this one added a border, and added a little purple glow effect to match the mace I was holding.

Now here is the same signature with different coloring… which one is better?
