zade_o
Now that i'm not worried quite as much about paperdolling stuff, I went with a slightly more lively pose for my sprite, it seems off in some areas to me.any advice or edits are welcome![](http://oi51.tinypic.com/208gnps.jpg) v2: ![](http://oi56.tinypic.com/291drnc.jpg) v3: ![](http://oi53.tinypic.com/2d9btv.jpg)here's the old one:![](http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/1895/newsprite.gif) v2: ![](http://oi53.tinypic.com/2hnoqqc.jpg)P.s. Ignore the 10 second weapon he's holding, that's just to show that it's meant to hold 2 handed weapons.
Dark Crusade
I think I much liked the previous version, although it's been a while since I've seen it. Upload it as a comparison so we can see?
zade_o
Alright, I put it in the top post. I'm trying to make it look like he's kinda hunched over ready to swing his maul at all timesEDIT_took a while to find an example, but this is kinda what I'm going for.![](http://i53.tinypic.com/14kheuh.) Shaunfroggydog
That's pro stuff man well done!Hmm I think over all his arms and legs could stand to be beefed up a bit to match the rest of the figure. Like rounder more cut shapes.I think his pose is almost exaclty like the style you were going for. Only real difference I notice is that (his) right arm is tucked in close to his side, bring that elbo out some for a more natural looking stance.Anyway that's really cool though, it looks as pro as any of the eclipse starter sprites I've seen. Alright later…
Kusy
That's a defensive position Ghost, he looks like he's ready to block an attack, not attack himself. The legs are just hilarious, I remember that you were going for a certain style with them, but this is over the top, they just need to have more flesh.Another thing, why is he looking at me? I don't think that makes sense in a top down game lul.
zade_o
![](http://oi56.tinypic.com/291drnc.jpg)Alright, I buffed up his shoulders a bit more and put his right shoulder a bit more into perspective. Moved the elbow out slightly as well. Fixed his right pec a bit too.Kusy, the games not completely top down? But I moved his eyes down a bit and put a highlight on his head to try and show that he's not looking completely straight at you, idk if that fixes it for you or not. The legs may be a losing battle for you haha cus they look just how I want them. I may beef em up a bit but right now I like it.
Kusy
Yeah, that's what I was thinking with the legs. I just found it odd for the sprite to look directly at the player in a 40 degree perspective or so game - you fixed it just right.
Robin
I prefer the original. That pose looks really awkward.
Anna Comnena
One thing I don't like about the new one is that because of that pose the perspective is flatter; yet the legs are still tiny, so it seems more of a stylistic choice. The old sprites had some of that same stylistic design (oversized bulky bodies with tiny legs), but the forced perspective of the old sprites made that style work better in my opinion. zade_o
![](http://oi53.tinypic.com/2d9btv.jpg)Tried touching up a few more places, and moving the legs around a bit to look less awkward. Worked on an idle animation. In turn bulked the legs up a bit more as wellSorry to say but I'm not gonna go back to the old sprite.Again, ignore his weapon, not my work at all. Robin
His legs looks silly.

zade_o
The legs are a stylistic choice, I guess I should make only his upper body move during the idle animation so it doesn't look like he's shitting.

zade_o
Well, now I'm eating my words. I'm using the old sprite again.I did however edit that one, using hue shifts and a bit more muscular structure.![](http://oi53.tinypic.com/2hnoqqc.jpg)

(: The edit looks improved. Not too bad I say, although some of the colors/details and the chest animation come across a little harsh. What are the dark lines on his shoulder? zade_o
Haha, probably just my construed outlook of shoulder anatomy. I'll work on smoothing it out a bit and fix up those shoulders
Robin
Naked sprites always look silly for me. Can't really give advice on how he looks till he's dressed up like he would be ingame.

_Her0
I think they are actually quite great, i love the muscle details, it give's the "game" a sense of brutality. In the one's you just posted, I like the first frame, where he is standing still, it makes it look like he's breathing, haha. Keep up the good work. Robin
I think that animation is waaay too exaggerated for the frame count. Looks very jarring.
zade_o
which one? the walking one was messed up when I created the gif, so check it again. If you mean how much he swings his arm, I was wondering if that was too much or not and I may just have to fix it. Murdoc
The legs should be a bit bigger imo, and the feet more discernable. Right now it looks he has stumps for legs, while his upper body is massive in proportion.
