  1. @Harris: > No. If someone truly wants to create something good with Eclipse then they need to get rid of the default graphics and create their own. So you're saying that something can only be good if it's completely made from scratch? Good luck with that. I'll see you in 5 years when you finally have enough time to handle such a stupidly large task. The most important part of game design is knowing your own skills and being able to work to deadlines. Learning to do absolutely everything yourself is simply impractical, especially when there are so many fantastic public resources to use. Laziness is where you know you _need_ do something yet don't bother. Cleverness is where you know you _can_ do something yet have the ability to find a quicker, more beneficial route.
  2. @Harris: > Basically, don't be lazy and create your own graphics. Yes, because using something pre-made which is better than anything you can do yourself is being 'lazy'. If that was the case then everyone on this forum apart from me is a lazy bastard because they use my bloody engine. Get rid of that silly mentality.
  3. @Growlith1223: > in a pmd game, Recruit rate is +34 > which would mean you have a chance out of 34 to recruit it.. ![](http://i.imgur.com/rpXAp.jpg)
  4. @Duders: > I read, while working on RMXP and RMVX games for a while, that you can use the RTP as long as you are making a free game or if you buy the RMXP or RMVX license before selling a product. Basically if your project becomes large enough you should spend the like $30 on the license. Did you fuck. You just pulled that garbage out of your arse. Says very clearly in the license agreement that you can't use it for anything other than the RPG Maker RTP.
  5. @College: > I see porn in Robin's eyes
  6. You're not allowed to use the RTP in anything at all. Read the license. It's pretty simple.

@Jungle: > You guys have 0's in the beginning of your telephone numbers? It's actually his country code. Over here that translates to 0\. Not sure how it is in the states.

I have no idea what a social security number is.
  12. The fact that it's in 'DrawMinimap' means I'm not even going to read that code. If it's in the draw routine then it's getting called every single loop. What you want to do is cache it in memory and re-build the cache when the data changes from incoming packets. Then you can render that without all the calculations.
  13. Why do you do so many checks? Cache the positions and re-set them when packets arrive. Don't just re-calculate everything each loop. Caching is your friend.
  14. @Captain: > If only he knew then.. that he'd be making 20kpounds/y.. proffessionally programming.. That was 4 years ago. What I could do back then was good but no where near the level I've developed since then. Hell, it's been a good 1 or 2 years since I did any sort of development on Eclipse. Even in that small amount of time the differences would be astounding.

    Dynamic Resizing?

Screen size is heavily linked to the map size at the moment. First you'll need to unlink those two features. From there it's very simple. I managed to add in resolution selection and fullscreen systems to Crystalshire with just a couple of functions.
  18. Are you running the project properly or are you opening individual source files?

@Dreams: > I got some virus alerts on the site. My first thought = 'Robin's Trying to Steal Our Info!!!' > But as it seems, everything's gonna be ok. > I assume that it is safe to still be here if I have MSE and it seems to be catching the viruses? Your information is worthless to me. I already have everything I'd need if I wanted to sell your personal information.
  20. @Earth: > Haha, I got it working! > Now off to the tutorials! That should have been your first port of call. The FAQ and official tutorials both fully explain how to set up your engine. Please don't waste our time by asking questions which have been official answered.

    The Game

No, the game was cancelled when someone over on 4chan won it.
  23. Don't re-post ones you didn't pick. It makes the format confusing.
