  1. Damn, that was a close-call. Congrats to everyone who entered.
  2. > I think that League of Legends gets it right; having potions with no cooldowns that heal you overtime, and simply stack upon repeated use. The potion in LoL (I believe) heals you 150 hp over 10 seconds. If you drink another potion, it will simply become 300 hp over 30 seconds, and so on. This lets the player control their sustain, and suffer the consequences of not using their potions correctly. This leads to a player dying because of their own mistakes. not a game mechanic that will not let them heal themselves. I think that the method you've described just means that everyone optionally can use potions as a source to stack up health regeneration over long periods of time. Potions in my opinion shouldn't give any sort of permanant or unlimited buff, you should have to use it at the right time and have imposed restrictions. For example, I personally favor the idea of only using potions between battles or while not taking damage. It means that you can't spam them in battle to grind monsters you otherwise you wouldn't stand a chance against. If you wanted to use them in battle, you'd have to have friends to help you out and take hits from the monster so you could duck out for a moment to quaff a potion to get back into the battle. Or, between two battles, you'd drink one before moving into another battle.
  3. They also added additional DLC + Titan Quest to the bundle.
  4. Interesting how diverse peoples votes are. It shows there's no 'right' way, it depends on the game and player. > i always think about bosses, i love to solo bosses, or two man them meaning i can chug potions to my hearts content, have nothing but 80% hp pots 20% mana pots in all inv space and just spam pots. If food is in the game i carry a stack for before and after boss fight healing. Never been able to rely on a healer.. unless he/she is been paid via items… Such games usually involve just standing still most the time and taking turns casting spells or hitting. In a theoretical game where you can dodge, and have to use a higher manner of tactics potion spamming wouldn't be required to solo a boss.
  5. > Is that screenshot 1:1? If so.. Those gravel/paving tiles hurt my eyes a bit.. :/ > > I like the other tiles though. ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//smile.png) Thanks for your reply, in game graphics will be viewed at 200% so hopefully that will improve the gravel/paving tiles. Otherwise I may reduce the contrast slightly, and I'll create some more diversity for it so each tile isn't the complete same.
  6. > I have no chance of winning I am aware of this, however I do think BugSicks entry is invalidated by the rules. It should be, but it was approved anyway.
  7. > Your pixel art is so good and it makes me angry for not being as good. ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//wink.png) > This is one of the projects I'm interested in aside from Mirage Realms. Looking forward to playing it when it is finished. > Nice project very good looks great. Which you best of luck. > I love those graphics ![:D](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.png) Thanks a heap guys!
  8. > Heading out to an anime convention as Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls. > > ![](http://i.imgur.com/4dsd2.jpg) Haha! You remind me of a younger Marty Mcfly! Couldn't find a good picture of him with his hat on, but this will do for now- ![](http://mypartyshirt.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/a/marty-mcfly-hat_1.png) ![](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m905omAaft1rx19pzo1_1280.jpg)
  9. > To me, the first 5 are great. The axe however, should be slightly thinner. That's my opinion. I agree with Murdoc about the axe
  10. Yeah, I definately agree Nook. I learnt a fair bit in the process, including producting my own synths from scratch using 'subtractive synthesis'. Pretty cool stuff.
  11. > Anyway, I agree with Duke, it does drag on at the start, and in the context of the game itself, it sounds unrelated. But, still, sounds great, anyway. ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//tongue.png) I kept it true to the original song as best I could. Check out the original if you need to compare. Apart from that, as mentioned first ever attempt at 'electronic' music. Might try something new sometime soon.
  12. I'm not sure that a cave and shop on one map, then a tent on another meets the map theme of village, and counts as 3 houses. The rules were pretty clear, I'm surprised he didn't use different maps from his game, or just spend a spend half an hour making a new one for the contest.
  13. > bugsick can't win because he doesn't have at least 3 houses so he is out the contest. am i right ore not Yeah, at most he has 1 house (or 1 tent). > Map Theme - **Village with Indoor View** > > Special Rule/s (2) > > * **Must have at least 3 Houses shown Externally.** > * **Must have at least 1 Map Showing the inside of a House.**
  14. Haha thanks dude, almost thought I wasn't going to get a single comment on this. XD
  15. Hey guys, voting for Soljah's Official Mapping Contest just opened. If you like the style and mapping for Elandor Chronicles, consider voting for me! Else, check out some of the other entries and submit your vote! ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/a4a8f1d2e6c55a30c5bcd894d46c6db2.png) [http://www.touchofde…oting-now-open/](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/130748-soljahs-offical-mapping-contest-voting-now-open/)
  16. Elaborate on the 'hunger-games' idea? I'm unfamiliar with the concept
  17. Thanks for sharing, what a bargain!
  18. Much better, you've fixed the saturation issue. I'll explain contrast now in case your not too familiar with the concept. Contrast is the 'difference' in brightness or luminosity between each color or shade you've used. In your latest tile, you've used 3 different shades, however they are all very simular, and thus have very low contrast. You should make the difference between each shade stronger.
  19. Not bad at all, I like the style you've went for!
  20. My first attempt at hard-style. While I've got a lot to learn, and a lot to practice, I think I've made a decent effort on my first track that isn't either metal or a game soundtrack. Decided to stick with something not too difficult, so I chose one of the most annoying places in the Pokemon games - Mt Moon. http://youtu.be/_nA553IjvMs Subscribe if you like it! Will probably release the download link on youtube if there is a lot of interest. (:
  21. > Thanks everyone for tips on grass tile. > > I will try so,small blades and more saturation, contrast.I will work to another grass tile. Don't add more saturation, it already is too saturated. Saturation is the intensity of the color, so to speak. More saturation = more color, less saturation = less color. ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/b4a95e997c1c819d36b8ce4f9e0376d3.png) Your last few tiles have definately had too much brightness and contrast in my opinion.
  22. I agree Murdoc! I made a debate about that a while ago too. When it comes to 'fancy' looking weapons and armor, I believe that lower levels can have some fancy weapons, but they'll still be noticably low level. For example, it won't be a golden flamberge sword with a winged hilt or whatever, it might just be a short sword with a jagged edge, a gem and some cool colors.
  23. Something I notice with more and more games today, is that there is little connection with an item's stats and its appearance. Take this for example, what weapon do you think from the game 'Maple Story' is the most powerful? ![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/DoomSceptor.png?1324077656)Doom Sceptor ![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/onehandbl032.gif?1243651174)Hammer ![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/onehandbl006.gif?1243652847)Plunger The plunger is a level 25 item, dealing 44 damage, followed by the lvl 15 hammer dealing 34 damage and then the level 10 doom sceptor dealing 29. Another example, from Torchlight- ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/ff7b4943ac3017d6704c1066bc897271.png) What is the name of this weapon? Short Sword. At level 11 you are able to wield this 'short sword'. In Elandor Chronicles, I'm aiming to make the weapon icons accurate in terms of measuring and comparing stats and strengths. Although some manner of enchanting or upgrading may be developed for a future release, each item will initially be individually designed with a realistic and accurate icon and name. You won't pick up a standard looking 'longsword' or the likes, which may unexpectedly deal fire damage, or leech life. However a rarer 'ceremonial dagger' may be able to leech life, or frequently cause bleeding wounds.
  24. Still designing the game and content! > I strive to be as professional and realistic as I can in regards to developing this game. Over the past year or so, I've spent time working on graphics and designing every aspect of the game. This is a project which I'll fund, either through a site such as kickstarter, or by myself. I'm currently working on the final design aspects, and more graphical content. Hopefully in the near future I'll be able to start internal development. Progress is going great though. The soundtrack is completed (might show off more tracks soon), most aspects of the game are designed, and I'm probably about half way through the initial graphics.
  25. > Dark choclate can be good depending in the situtation. As long as its not like 95% coco. Agreed, I tried a 85% cocoa dark chocolate bar a while back, was so unbelievably bitter.
