  1. @'Yuko': > My comparison is right in comparing servers. They shouldn't take forever to load, if they do it's your internet, because rarely does FB/Google ever load slow on decent internet. > > There is no difference Literally I've tested both today, neither of them load slower. It'd be nice if you'd stop complaining, I'm trying to do this for the good of the community, not you individually. If you think IPB loads slower, so be it I'm not here to argue. You are blaming my internet. I have same provider with exactly same program and speed for like… hmm 5 years. I had both IPB and MyBB running on same server (not at same time) and difference between clean MyBB and clean IPB with similar data was significant. But okay, not going to argue as it seems that you are deep IPB fan, so no arguments are good enough here. And, you have Web Dev banner, MyBB is open source, so I do not see why you cannot do some stuff in MyBB that you can do in IPB. Of course you can, but it requires a bit more work. But when you can't, I assume that you are front-end developer and then I totally understand that you want to switch to forum, where you have almost everything built-in.
  2. @'Joyce': > @'superbaton': > > > just dont frogive up like 95% dev from this site, create good mmorpg creator and i will buy it ! > > Considering the source is up on Github I doubt I'll get much money or credit for it. Sooooo yeah. Long live open source. Commercials can eat shit.
  3. Yey awesome. If you will ever finish this, then you can use my build engine later, so engine users will have easier time to compile their game to final product. I am sure than I will have my build engjne finished when you will finish Eclipse# :)
  4. IPB is bloated and full of ajax stuff. And no, your comparison is wrong. Facebook isn't search engine, but both MyBB and IPB are forum engines, and MyBB is a lot faster than IPB.
  5. Are you fucking kidding? Reverting back to IPB when site if finally atlas a bit fast? IPB is hell slow.
  6. @'Yuko': > I also like how you use event names to do the tutorial, a very smart idea that even I couldn't come up with I see. Thinking about performance is not strong side of people on this site.
  7. I like the idea. So original. Also, on Android it is totally differednt game. So revolutionary port.
  8. Again main engine change? Also, if you push new Java engine on GitHub, I am sure I will be able to help you guys with many things there (as right now I have plenty of free time in work and I am bored).
  9. I never liked syntax of switch. Basically everywhere you need to use parenthesis in both C# and Java and only cases in switch are the exception. That is really weirs and I too tend to use curlys there.
  10. Don't blame Windows for that. Acdept the truth, VB6 is dead language for years.
  11. @'Sigridunset': > > Best VB6 programmer here? I vote for Seth or JC, but if you are talking about "real" languages, then Panda or Marsh. > > I might be wrong, but I wouldn't say that proficiency is the same as being a good programmer. Personally, I always figured that being a good programmer meant more to do with a problem-solving mindset of being able to produce quality work with what you're given, ability to work well with other developers, realizing that there are multiple ways to tackle an issue, and having the mentality that you aren't the best programmer. Those who declare themselves to be the best programmer might be extremely proficient, but will almost always not actually be the best programmer. Don't be a smartass and listen to your heart ;)
  12. Best VB6 programmer here? I vote for Seth or JC, but if you are talking about "real" languages, then Panda or Marsh.

It should be then better called MORPG.
  15. Best argument is result. If you will finish your game and it will be alive atleast for month, then you was right. Otherwise no. And as you said Matt, making MMORPG from EO is just a dream. I just want to be realistic and I am talking from my own experiences. I think this article explain it a bit better: http://sol.gfxile.net/mmorpg.html
  16. @'Gahduvdeth': > @'Sigridunset': > > > There are tons of people on this site who are unnecessarily negative and everyone knows about them but they are too lazy to point them out so this post is totally useless. > > You, my good sir, deserve a cookie. > > * * * > > @'YourBestNightmare': > > > There are tons of these around and everyone knows about them but they are lazy to use them so this post is totally useless. > > Too lazy to use a self-installer package, but not too lazy to make an MMO? > > Because screw logic, that's why. Sorry, I meant too unskilled to use basic things like that. And 99% of projects here die anyways and never gets finished because people are lazy and their are trying to make their first game MMO, which will never happen. So my point is valid.
  17. There are tons of these around and everyone knows about them but they are lazy to use them so this post is totally useless.
  18. That VB6 in the background. I suppose it is easter egg.
  19. What is with everyone and pokemon clones?
  20. Ehat is Orion? If you mean chocolate, then eat it.
  21. I thought about sort of extensions or addons to engine. My idea is that there will be nondev/non.extensions repository, where people will simply create pull request to add new extension. Each extension will have its own config.yml file with extension name, license, author, version etc. And then, after installation, engine will download extensions repository somewhere. Then, after creating a project, user will be able to type ``` non install ``` and it will extract specified extension to project directory to extensions folder. Then, during build, extension will be included into project. What do you think about it?
  22. Regex contest here? It will be max 2 or 3 participants imo.
  23. @'Marsh': > You guys are passionate about your programming languages and ides. Maybe put some of that passion into researching your statements. Everything I am saying is from my personal experience. I really wanted to move my entire Java project to .NET, I spent more than 10 hours (at once, without any break) trying just to get my cross-platform CLI ported to .NET and it's command line build tools. Why I wanted to do this? Because one feature that I really like about .NET are P/Invokes which are superior to JNI (Java Native Interface) in performance. @'Sigridunset': > I'm nowhere near a professional programmer, and I'm not trying to come off as one. I'm not vastly experienced in programming, or even hardware for that matter. But, I know at least the basics. Although I do primarily use C# and have somewhat of a bias to it, I'd just like to recite something I read a while back about the whole debate. > > You'll find arguments on both sides both for and against C# and Java, as well as Eclipse and Visual Studio. Many of which, I'd like to think are valid. But if you cast those aside and solely regard one important variable which is development speed, I'd like to think that C# and VS have the upper hand. C#, Visual Studio, and .Net are all produced and maintained by Microsoft. Eclipse exists as a byproduct of Java, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, But Visual Studio, .Net, and C# exist in a trinity force which were all built to complement each other. Yes, using IDE with .NET is easier, but all most of my points against .NET was it's automated building and command-line tools.
  24. @'Helladen': > .NET runs on Mac and Linux or soon anyway… They got the previews out already for it. What are you talking about? .NET copied Java. Visual Studio Code just came out which is way less resource hungry anyway. All IDEs in Java are not very clean and responsive. I do not think so. On my PC, I can start both Eclipse and NetBeans in less than 5 seconds, but Visual Studio takes almost 30 seconds to load. And it lags a lot. Yes, my PC is not the best one, but Java IDEs are running there without any problems. Anyways, I am not using IDEs at all right now. That is why I am telling you that for .NET it is hard to make cross-platform build automation command line tool. To get close to it, you need to install entire MonoDevelop IDE on Linux just to get nicer build tool. .NET runs on Mac and Linux already with Mono and I still do not like it.
