  1. Just because the Tablet is a new innovation doesn't mean they have to make everyone deal with the standards of a tablet on a desktop.
  2. Personally the interface I described for Fedora and Ubuntu is still 100 times better for both touch screen PCs and Desktop PCs by keeping that balance.
  3. Obviously it's not, but why are all the buttons so big, designed the same way the Windows Phone has it's interface? Because they were after touch-screen support obviously.
  4. I personally like my desktop OS to be a desktop and not this screen made for tablets specifically. You know why I love Ubuntu and Fedora's interface? Their apps menus, just fade right in over the desktop and bring up organizable sections. Windows 8 is a huge screen that pops up and the desktop isn't where it focuses anymore, which is more or less not right for desktops and laptops.
  5. So, nice projectile system indeed, but perhaps make it shoot in straight lines by select or vice versa? It's great but I'd like to control how my machine gun fire instead of being able to button mash and hit anything for certain.
  6. Nice idea for projectiles there, looking forward to seeing this progress.
  7. Looks good Matthew, rewards people for playing.
  8. I like where this is going more than where I last saw it. But I'd recommend working Projectile weaponry and finishing the particle preview, perhaps working a few back-end gameplay features in over the graphics, because you've covered a lot of what good graphic-centered games need as tools.

Oh of course it is more difficult General, but people talk about switching over to UDP when that's really the only way that works, and clearly such a system would be difficult to accomplish. TCP has worked ever since Eclipse started, we just need to do some streamlining and optimization along the way, Eclopti had already fixed some things that increased CPS I believe.
  10. What are you going on about?

We could do UDP implementation thing is said developer working on the system would either have to a. work up a code to account for the problems with UDP as the main connection, which can be difficult or b. Use a hybrid TCP/UDP system, which is more feasible.
  12. Your work is jawdropping, and this build is truly the next step forward, bringing Eclipse right back into the leading generation of 2D ORPG Engines, and I congratulate all of your work so far. I will most definitely look forward to your future position as Head Developer, Your work has blown me away ever since I saw it.
  13. Look at them in three ways; Eclipse Nightly - Base, provides what you need and an understandable base to work off of and add whatever you need. Eclipse Advanced - Additions specifically for graphics, if you want systems like quests and stuff, you'll find it a bit more difficult. Eclipse Mega - Similar to above but with less of the changes, provides the necessities and not the graphics oriented stuff Advanced has.
  14. I agree with Ertzel, a new engine type would certainly help people make new realities of their concepts on Eclipse.
  15. One thing, about the knockback….Chain attacks? this could be a selectable option for weapons.

Best part is we can have different people running different projects, the basic being the one headed by the head dev.
  17. A project shouldn't be held back because it looks like RPG Maker. A single player engine can be used by people who mean business with it or people who want to use a hobby concept on it, like we already do with Eclipse as an MMO engine.
  18. Derp, those engines used Turn based battle systems. I referred to Phantasy Star because that's really where this is the most similar.
  19. I would love this idea. Why? Phantasy Star had online+offline modes and I'd love that. It gives people so much more effort into as Oreo said, the storyline and lore of the game.

That's what I mean, that would in theory be what the Optimal flavor would be. Rob's engine being the Basic, and we'd have to find a powerhouse flavor.
  21. You think a set of right click menus for NPCs and Players is a worthy addition to add? This could hold a list of commands for the player to perform with that other target.

I think a plan of action for eclipse should be this; We provide three different builds of the base engine, remember how Ubuntu has official flavors? Like that. We provide; **Basic -** An engine that provides everything a standard Eclipse game would need, a base for anyone to work off of. **Optimal -**Same as basic minus some features that have bugs and nothing is added until deemed bug-free. Like Eclopti Rekindled basically. **Powerhouse -** Engine specifically meant to hop in with the good stuff added right in, so people can jump into Eclipse without a need for programming knowledge. Anything else should be covered to custom versions but we need a set of official choices. Just my two cents.
  23. Could it be a rhetorical question?
  24. I really think just an X button on the window panel for buttons would have been better, not everyone is going to get that.
  25. Whatever works best for the guy but this a suggestion to Deathbeam. Regardless I want to see more gameplay stuff in this and less graphical powerhouse design.
